At first, Dee-us Ex. Didn't think it was right, so looked it up, learned it correctly within a day :P

Also, interestingly enough, Deus Ex, despite being my favorite game of all time, I have never once paid for. I first got a copy when my dad bought a new sound card and Deus Ex was bundled with it. Then I got another copy when I bought a Computer Gaming World that had a DVD with both Deus Ex and Thief II.

I still own that DVD and it has many years of wear on it :3

Deus Ex. How hard is that?

Scratch the Dee, say it D and don't stop until you reach the end. Easy ;)

lowyhong: Having no idea it was pronounced as dei-as ex, I was trying to tell an English professor about the choice of media that I wanted to use for an upcoming assignment, and I kept saying "Deuce Ex", which confused him, until I spelt it out for him and he corrected me. That was embarrassing. :S

How did you first pronounce it?
I pronounced it "Doose E-X" or "Doose X" Lol.

My way was always "deeus ex". Not sure though there is not a possibility that it sounds that way.

Oh, latin, you fiesty girl.
For some reason, even though I know how it's supposed to be pronounced, in my head, I still call it "deuce ecks". <_<;;
Latin geek here.

I pronounced it like any other old humanist.
I'd heard it before I saw it. It was pronounced to me as Day-us Ecks. And while we're on the subject, is that the correct pronunciation?

yep it's wrong, it's not dee but DE (like Denmark) - US EX

It's pronunced just like you would read it in italian (one of the closest language to latin) or spanish

I think you got the Denmark part right, but the US part should be OOS.

*beats you to death with a Latin textbook*
I used to pronounce it Doos X

Apparaently the correct way to say it though is Dayus Eks and is derived from the Latin saying Deus Ex Machina which means god from the machine. For example : "a person or event that provides a sudden, unexpected solution to a story"
