I first heard about it on X-Play ( a moment of silence, please), where they said you could get Fallout (another moment of silence) from here.
What the fuck is X-Play ?

I was just gonna correct your grammar... Then I stopped .
I honestly don't remember. I just recall that I once stumbled upon 2-3 digital distributors that distributed games in my price range (the selection was drying up at retailers in favor of console games), probably because I stumbled upon one in an advertisement and did a quick search to see if there were others. I bookmarked them all and did nothing with the info for several weeks.

When I did a comparison between the websites I bookmarked a couple of weeks later and picked GOG, though ironically, I had to do some searching to figure out that the games were DRM-free here (maybe in part because I wanted DRM-free, but I didn't know there existed a term for what I wanted).

First read about a deal on GOG on a forum for pirated games (lol) back in september 2010. Just before the infamous shutdown which put me off signing on for two years.
This guy told me.

Ha!

I was looking for Interstate '76, didn't have the money for it at the time though so I forgot about it for a few years. Rediscovered it when I wanted to play Tyrian 2000 after hearing some good things about it, came free with a GOG account. I realize it was free before but I was unfamiliar with DOSbox and so had no idea how to go about starting the game; GOG made that completely painless for me. Since then I've learned how to use DOSbox a bit but it was nice to be able to get going without having to learn anything extra.
Can't really remember... Probably on a forum related to dosbox...
Or was it this guy?

I THINK I was looking for a place to buy alone in the dark 1 through 3, stumbled on this site which had it ultra cheap, so I couldn't resist buying, then the might and magic set was an awesome buy also.

I was looking for System Shock 2 and IHNMAIMS, unaware that they were nowhere to be found. Stumbled across this place and bookmarked it.
I was at a low point in my life - divorced, bankrupt, diagnosed with tuberculosis, and with a crippling addiction to jellybabies (melted in a double-boiler and injected sublingually). Then one a day, a couple of young fellows in crisp suits arrived at my door and offered to tell me about their scripture...

Oh, how did I find GOG? I heard somewhere that System Shock 2 was available for sale digitally and DRM-free, and that led me here, as well as rekindling my gaming passion.

I also remarried, gained a fortune, had my tuberculosis convert into periodic priapism, and conquered my addiction, all of which I credit to GOG.
