SimonG: The reason I bought it was because of the way the creator handles the piracy issue. Not because of the game itself. Still haven't played it.

Barefoot_Monkey: How does the creator handle the piracy issue?
”I don’t really want people to pirate Hotline Miami,” he admitted, “but I understand if they do. I’ve been broke the last couple of months. It sucks.”

Got my vote.

lowyhong: Wait till you see what happens later when GOG releases Defender's Quest.
Or somehow releases Alley Cat But I doubt they will :P
Because, unlike Retro City Rampage, it's a good game, methinks?

By the way, it seems that every game released on GOG gets 5/5 or 4.5/5 automatically -.-

Phaidox: NEVAR FORGET.
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/preorder_hotline_miami/page1

"this doesn't even look like a good new game..."
"I'm already fed up with this garbage."
"sorry but no GOG this looks awful"
"Looks like shit, pass."
"it looks stupid ...im sorry, but according to me, this game doesnt belong to gog.com"
"This game looks like crap. "
...And so on and so forth.

We've learned a valuable lesson today - do not judge a book by its cover.
Or people on the internet, as a phat blanket statement, are idiots.

I think that was a masterstroke by the game devs, and has worked well in their favour. Almost like reverse psychology. It's no wonder it's selling so well.

Just like with Mc Pixel creator - made a shitty game, got free Pirate Bay publicity , earned huge money. PROFIT.

But Hotline Miami really IS a good game.

Oh yeah, that guy. I was so pissed when media and journalists presented his attitude towards pirates as a "self-less act" - sure, accepting the Pirate Bay promo was so noble and self-less... poor guy received free advertising from one of the most popular sites on the web.

I should've said - every NEW game :P It's like people give it 5/5 after playing first 5 minutes, and only after that they start realizing how shitty game they just bought.
What about this :P

Though TBH I haven't heard anything good about Lucius, so I'm not surprised.

It got average reviews, but it interests me. More my type of game (like alan wake).
not a big surprise for me at all - it is really very fun and addictive game!
I am very glad to see it as top seller - it deserves that place despite all that stupid criticism (mostly by "so clever" people who haven't played it)
Just to be more specific, it's currently bestselling, not all-time. ;-)

And at the same time he pretty much gave away the game for free. Fair deal.

Yeah, I'm with you on that one.
