Their game is probably not KNOWN anywhere in the world. This is the biggest problem. The game looks good and promising, it could gain few dollars on Lone Survivor popularity (people may want more pixel horror games).

Sorry, I was actually talking 'bout the Bundle In A Box there. Though this is also pretty obscenely cheap.

Yeah, I'm not really convinced yet that the dirt-cheap price is what gets customers to buy. Its probably just that the best known and most popular games were already in other bundles and the rest will only interest passionate adventure games fans enough to give them a try.

Yeah, it's a little sad. They didn't get the sale they were expecting, so it feels like they got kinda desperate and are trying to eke out whatever they can.

I already bought several copies of it, but sadly it didn't help much. :(

Yes guys. Not everybody earns millions. Even great things that are not recognized by bigger amount of people has big chances of not selling well. That's the way the cookie crumbles.

On the surface they're very similar, but there are enough divergent qualities between them that I wouldn't make a direct comparison. It would be, as others have remarked, like comparing Heavy Rain (which Home is sort of seen as) and Silent Hill (which is most often compared to Lone Survivor).

I'm on the fence because there's no OS X version - on the other hand there's a good chance it may run in WINE. Then again, it's $2 so what do I have to lose, right?

Aye, likewise. I think there were a couple of problems: a. Adventure games aren't hugely popular. b. A lot of people already have BTDT, TGP, and Gemini Rue. c. The BTA bonuses were pretty obscure. Still, one of my absolute favorite bundles (though the new Humble is awesome).

Oh, I agree. But it's one of those cases where at first glance they seem quit similar (sidescrolling retro pixely horror), which could turn off some people who already have Lone Survivor.

Bundle in a box sold poorly because:

1. everybody has Time Gentlemen, blabla and that second game. Nobody wants that text adventure game and the second crappy looking something
2. nobody heard about bundle in a box (I wouldn't, without that forum)
3. it fucking crashed now and I can't download my games. :P

But 1893 and TSWCE are both awesome and I'm not entirely sure how you can claim the latter looks crappy, but I guess that's personal preference. Also, it crashed for you? That kinda sucks, worked fine for me.

It looks crappy for me, because it looks like drawn in MS Paint or something, at least on screenshots.

I bought it solely for Gemini Rue. I will definitely check out that Text adventure too, but I don't believe there are plenty guys like us, who don't mind playing text games these days.

For a bundle which features one of the best-received indie adventures of recent memory (in addition to another excellent adventure game from the same developer's stable), sales seem to have been disappointing, mainly for the second reason - it was just really poorly marketed. The fact that TGP/BNDT (which are very entertaining games) have been heavily promoted in the past didn't help.

Still, I liked it. I got Gemini Rue, which I really wanted but missed out on with the first Indie Royale bundle, and The Shivah is looking to be good, if Wadjet Eye's other games are any indication.
