Wishbone: Agreed. There were still a lot of things wrong with it of course, but from a pure gameplay perspective, it did become a good game then. But, as you say, too late.
Damn shame too. Because, lack of community aside, it's one of the best mutliplayer games I've played. Better than the previous UTs and I've played the Unreal Tournaments probably more than any other multiplayer FPS. So I don't say that lightly.

But without a community...

Neobr10: From the video, it looks like theyre using the FEAR engine (jupiter EX or something like that).
Exactly what I thought! Looked alot like FEAR. Looked like some of the same textures and scenery, it looked like the same red mist effect from blowing someone up with a shotgun, one of the weapons looked like the AR from FEAR, and I think I even saw the exact same yellow exploding barrels.
That's not a bad thing. I love Lithtech. Looks like it could be fun.

Looks like a Probotector but with multible angles. Could also look like a some normal unreal splatterfest.
"Halo player says: (he notices friends leaving) I also have probotector and double dragon 2 with much supereagle.. and most of all, golden eye in N64" And so friends return.

Edit: second probotector meant the original or ps2 one, that was sweet.

True. But there's no denying that Epic brought it on themselves. They displayed a complete lack of understanding of their existing community, and basically gave their fanbase a big "fuck you". It's hardly surprising that people left them in droves.

But it was a rather surreal experience. The complete lack of business sense that Epic/Midway displayed made one wonder if it was actually done on purpose, because surely noone could be THAT stupid.

This is the games industry. The games industry. I mean really, what else needs to be said at this point?

We've been given just about every 'fuck you' possible, aside from literal. In fact I bet there are actually plenty of examples where those exact words were said to the loyal, paying customers of this industry. We see these monumentally self-destructive 'fuck you's at least once a week, regular as clockwork.
