Because we like you so, we have a gift for you.

A while back, we started to sell EA games--great classics such as Wing Commander, Privateer, and Alpha Centauri. A few people--just a few!--noted that we didn't have the expansions and that made them sad panda.

Well, panda, be sad no more! As a holiday gift from us to you, we're bringing everyone who bought (or buys in the future!) the expansions for Wing Commander 1 + 2, Wing Commander Privateer, and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri for you today! These expansions are free updates, so just download the new installers for each game from your account and start playing now! Note that these EA games will not be part of any Daily Deal bundle, so go ahead and pick them up now for only $2.99 each.

The expansions are:
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri--Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.
Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire brings you seven new factions (two that are non-human), new technologies, new facilities, new secret projects, new alien life forms, new unit special abilities, new victory conditions (including the new "Progenitor Victory") and several additional concepts and strategies, making it a "must-have" expansion for the award-winning game.

Wing Commander 1 + 2--Wing Commander: The Secret Missions, Wing Commander: The Secret Missions 2 Crusade, Wing Commander II: Special Operations 1, Wing Commander II: Special Operations 2.
The Wing Commander expansions bring new missions, new ships, a new storyline, and an increase in difficulty in The Secret Missions, and in Secret Missions 2: Crusade, we see a whole new alien race, a new challenge, and a mysterious defection all raising the stakes of both the game's storytelling and its combat. In Wing Commander II: Special Operations 1 we see a layered web of deceit, lies, betrayal, and action all bringing that trademarked Wing Commander cinematic feel, while Special Operations 2 sees the player ambushed while escorting a traitor, and soon the player (as Col. Blair) will find himself undertaking one of his most dangerous missions of all: an undercover one infiltrating the very traitors he was escorting in the first place!

Wing Commander Privateer--Privateer Righteous Fire.
Finally, in Righteous Fire the player squares off against a crazy fundamentalist sect called the Retros as the open-ended space sim world's story continues with more action, ships, and missions to keep player occupied for hours.

A special thanks goes out to Paul Barnett and Jeff Skalski at Mythic (@MythicNews) for their help getting these add-ons secured (finally!) and available to you. :)

tfishell: Me: "@thatbarnettblok @Jeff_Skalski Any chance of seeing more EA expansions on @GOGcom, the Bullfrog ones? (Or am I tweeting the wrong people?)"

Jeff Skalski: "@tytbone @thatbarnettblok @GOGcom Stay tuned. ;)"
That's exactly what I don't like about Twitter. It was supposed to be short and informative. And yet people keep making their tweets as ambiguous as possible. I would prefer someting like "Yes, you will get them within..." or "we would like to but there are problems so I don't expect them to come soon" or something like that. But we got "Stay tuned. ;)" just in how many ways we may interpret this? Argh... I've never played Undiscovered Worlds and I would be very happy if it finally came here.

I'm guessing Jeff is being cautious because he has experience with non-disclosure agreements (and doesn't want to step on GOG's toes), and things probably aren't finalized yet. So I take what he says as a pretty positive sign, but I've been around GOG enough to be pretty careful about getting my hopes up (well, somewhat careful - if you ever need to balance your unwavering love of GOG, check out the game specific forums).

That's exactly what I'm talking about :) Guessing. Like I said - his tweet can be interpreted in so many ways and what you wrote is just one of them. It is probable and I also want it to be true but it's just guessing. "Stay tunned" might as well mean "hmm... good point, perhaps we should contact GOG and arrange those things?" (I really hope it's not the case!) or anything else really.

It probably doesn't, because I contacted him months ago, probably around when EA expansions were released here about Bullfrog games and I got something like "Oooh... I totally forgot about Deeper Dungeons! I'll see what I can do about that"

so it's not like he realised that today :P I'll try to find that tweet.

Here it is!

Well, you're welcome to tweet Jeff and express your frustration to him if you don't like how vague he was. (I wouldn't want to push my luck, though, so I won't tweet him for quite a while; hopefully we won't have to wait much longer!) I just enjoy theorizing, and I think the minimal evidence, however vague, does suggest a positive outcome. (won't apologize for that, though)

If you listened to that Giant Bombcast forever ago that touched on this topic you'd know EA is so buried in their own corporate politics and legal paperwork they have no real idea how to get this stuff out quickly or effectively.

Nah, I'm patient :) I can live without it, it's just a game after all. And believe me - it could cause me a lot of problems - many hi-tech facilities scan your computer when you are leaving to check whether you are not taking some confidential data with you. Those scanners detects illegal software too. That would be pretty embarrassing... ;)

I think you slightly misunderstood me. First of all I'm not frustrated at all :) Then - I'm very happy to see any evidence that something is happening with those expansions. Even if it is vague. I only expressed my feeling that Twitter became less informative because a lot of people are making their tweets ambiguous intentionally. Perhaps you are absolutely right and he couldn't phrase it differently, I'm not accusing him of ill will. It was rather a general concern that ambiguous tweets become very popular. Unnecessarily in many cases

Ok, I read once again what I wrote in previous posts. You are absolutely right - even though it was not my intention it really did sound like grumbling. I apologize for that. I should have phrased it differently. I often have some problems with it

timppu: I wish the missing Ubisoft expansions would get some love too...

Wishbone: Aren't most of the missing Ubisoft expansions missing because they don't exist in English and never did?
Hmm, I am pretty sure the retail Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon expansions that I have (and that are missing in GOG) are in English.

http://www.mobygames.com/game/tom-clancys-ghost-recon-desert-siege

http://www.mobygames.com/game/tom-clancys-ghost-recon-island-thunder

(I recall those are missing from the GOG versions...)

I'd say these would be the complete version, I guess:

Maybe you were referring to some other Ubisoft games, but those two titles are the Ubisoft titles I'm most interested in getting the expansions to GOG. :)

No biggie, there's just nothing I can personally do to help you out with this "Jeff Skalski's vagueness" situation. :)

I have Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear: Black Thorn and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Gold Pack Edition, got in Finland. Unfortunately, they're not here in GOG, however could be.

Actually I really appreciate your heads-up! Thanks a lot! I guess it was a good example of transference on my side ;) Some tweets really annoy me because they are unnecessarily vague and I vented my anger on Jeff and most probably he couldn't make it clear, just as you explained. Once again, sorry for that.
