Because we like you so, we have a gift for you.

A while back, we started to sell EA games--great classics such as Wing Commander, Privateer, and Alpha Centauri. A few people--just a few!--noted that we didn't have the expansions and that made them sad panda.

Well, panda, be sad no more! As a holiday gift from us to you, we're bringing everyone who bought (or buys in the future!) the expansions for Wing Commander 1 + 2, Wing Commander Privateer, and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri for you today! These expansions are free updates, so just download the new installers for each game from your account and start playing now! Note that these EA games will not be part of any Daily Deal bundle, so go ahead and pick them up now for only $2.99 each.

The expansions are:
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri--Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.
Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire brings you seven new factions (two that are non-human), new technologies, new facilities, new secret projects, new alien life forms, new unit special abilities, new victory conditions (including the new "Progenitor Victory") and several additional concepts and strategies, making it a "must-have" expansion for the award-winning game.

Wing Commander 1 + 2--Wing Commander: The Secret Missions, Wing Commander: The Secret Missions 2 Crusade, Wing Commander II: Special Operations 1, Wing Commander II: Special Operations 2.
The Wing Commander expansions bring new missions, new ships, a new storyline, and an increase in difficulty in The Secret Missions, and in Secret Missions 2: Crusade, we see a whole new alien race, a new challenge, and a mysterious defection all raising the stakes of both the game's storytelling and its combat. In Wing Commander II: Special Operations 1 we see a layered web of deceit, lies, betrayal, and action all bringing that trademarked Wing Commander cinematic feel, while Special Operations 2 sees the player ambushed while escorting a traitor, and soon the player (as Col. Blair) will find himself undertaking one of his most dangerous missions of all: an undercover one infiltrating the very traitors he was escorting in the first place!

Wing Commander Privateer--Privateer Righteous Fire.
Finally, in Righteous Fire the player squares off against a crazy fundamentalist sect called the Retros as the open-ended space sim world's story continues with more action, ships, and missions to keep player occupied for hours.

A special thanks goes out to Paul Barnett and Jeff Skalski at Mythic (@MythicNews) for their help getting these add-ons secured (finally!) and available to you. :)
Only GOG would add Alien Crossfire for free as opposed to charging everyone for it separately. This update was an excellent surprise for a very dreary, rainy day.

Gonchi: First the Gabriel Knight/Phantasmagoria sale, now the EA expansions. My Christmas wishes just keep coming true! Quick, someone ask me to ask GOG for something else!
Carmageddon 2 !!!
Absolutely beautiful, although I don't know why you aren't plastering it all over the front page (dropping the sale buttons down a bit). This made my weekend. Hopefully the Bullfrog expansions will show up eventually.

GOG.com: ...
By the way, when you have time, PLEASE consider changing the wallpapers to reflect this new epicness.

my Might and Magic 6 pack also updated.did you guys put something in the as well?
Well, I'm happy these were added, the expansions not being included was a big factor in deciding not to pick these up in the last EA promo. Now to switch to waiting for the missing expansions for the games that still need them though...
Definitely getting Alpha Centauri now! Hope Syndicate gets American Revolt next.
Neato, expansions work, got MT-32 sound running - now I only need to buy a new joystick and you won't see me here for a few weeks. :3
Thanks a lot guys. I played Alpha Centauri years ago, but have been waiting for the expansion to show up here before getting into it again.
Other digital distributors may have more (modern) games, but GOG.com has clearly the bigger heart.

Shoot, I'm glad GOG doesn't focus on modern titles (aside from indies, who I justify often as being in the spirit of the classics here.) That may well change, which would make a sad panda, but I'm sure many would be excited for the DRM-free-ness.
I'm gonna have to agree with all the comments above, this is awesome news GOG :-)

Now I have one very specific question in regards to the Secret Missions 2 (Wing Commander 1): In the DOS version there was no issue at all flying the missions where you flew the Dralthi.
As long as you didn't blow your cover you could do all the undercover missions fine.

When I later replayed them with the Kilrathi Saga Windows version there was no way to win them the way they were intended, as your cover was automatically blown the moment you faced enemy ships.

Can you guys confirm whether that bug is absent in this version?

Thanks in advance :-)

Necdilzor: Wow, this is my lucky day. Maybe the world is going to end as they say. I just got Alpha Centauri on a random giveaway... and now it has the expansion? YEEEEEAAHHH!! Thanks GOG.com!!!! :DDDDD
ditto here. THANKS GOG! Now about Lucas Arts....
I would have paid for the expansion. Gifting it to us is awesome, thanks so much.

Also, what is the update to the Might and Magic 1-6 collection?
Thanks @ GOG! This is what we most likely won't see anywhere else: added value AFTER you've already bought it and free of charge, too. I would have happily dished out a dollar or two for the expansions, but of course it's much nicer to get them as a bonus.

One thing I'm wondering about is the timing of this, though. With all the sales going on at the moment this is likely going below the radar for some folks (users and press alike).

Same thing with new games being released in the sales time frame. I hope that putting the games into bundles right away helped compensating for the lower attention during the sales mayhem.
Funnily enough, was just looking into this yesterday, before going to bed, why the expansion for the Wing Commander games weren't here in the first place. As always, I learn about something just before it becomes irrelevant.

You already have! Let me remind the gog to hop to it:

Could do with more Sierra games, GOG. The Colonel's Bequest, The Dagger of Amon Ra, Conquests of Camelot, Conquests of the Longbow, Code-Name: ICEMAN, Gold Rush!, Rise of the Dragon, Heart of China, The Adventures of Willy Beamish, EcoQuest, Lost Secret of the Rainforest... and the Leisure Suit Larry series. Those will do for now. Hop to it GOG!
