In the end only 3 games, I put 6+ for later and missed out on some as the Activision sale ended earlier that I expected. (Zorks & Kings Quest)

So I bought:

Another World: I remember seeing it on the Amiga and always wanted to play it. I liked the non sequels Flashback & Fade To Black and swore I'd pick it up some day. I played the demo when the 15th Anniversary version was released and liked it but wasn't sure about the Dragon Lair style gameplay so held off but in the GOG sale I simply couldn't resist the price.

Wing Commander 1 & 2: Another game I want to play. I had WC1 on the Amiga but got stuck on a mission because of invisible asteroids (bug of some type). I was quite far through and refused to restart again so gave up. Given I'd picked up WC3 on here a while before I though I should go back and play 1 & 2 first.

Ultima 7: Simply because I am a little feed up hearing that its the dogs bollocks in regards of comp RPG's and wanted to try it for myself. I remember buying underworld and not really getting on with it but I have a feeling that was the controls.

Games in my basket but removed at the last moment:

Temple of Elemental Evil: Again I've heard great things about it but I still have to finish Icewind Dale, play Baldurs Gate 2 and Planescape Torment, so it would be ages before I'd get to it, if I wasn't going to be burnt out playing 2d isometric rpgs

Ultima 1-2-3 & 4-5-6: While I'd like to start the series at the start I know I wouldn't get to them so it would simply be a waste of money beyond supporting GOG and plenty of you already do that for me :)

Jagged Alliance 2: Similar to ToEE really, with those Blackisle / Bioware titles still to play I couldn't imagine actually getting to JA2.

Crusader No Regret: I completed No Remorse back in 95-96 time frame and for some reason had problems with No Regret on the same computer (and I was a little burnt out from completing No Remorse) so it got put to one side with the intent of going back. Then Windows took over, Dos disappeared and I simply didn't get back to it (much like Interplay's Star Trek RPGs, I still need to play those! and have the discs somewhere in a box in Northern Ireland waiting to ship here). I still have the No Regret CD but figured I'd get the GOG version as it would be nicely setup and ready to go with no pfaffing on my part. In the end I passed because I struggled with paying $2.49 when I already own the darn thing.

So yeah, thats me and GOG Holiday Sale.
The first two STALKER games from GG, for an EUR or two of BCs. Will start playing them in 2012.
Crusader: No Regret - no reason at all... ;P

Lands of Lore 1+2 - pretty much for LoL1, i love that game, never really cared for the second installment, due to heavy use of FMVs

Ultima 1+2+3 - to have all of them in one place, and, well, 6 bucks was a bit too much for
these.

Ultima 4+5+6 - after getting the free version of Ultima 4, i've noticed i got farther in it then ever, so hopefully it'll be the same with 5 and 6.

Ultima 7 The Complete Edition - same as above.

Jagged Alliance 2 - i played the gold disk to death, one of the reasons i came to GOG too, shame i got it so late. I wish it was bundled with UB though.

Jagged Alliance - loved it so much i wanted everyone to play it, and one time, my CD never came back home. Now, the hole in my heart is plugged.

Blood (One Unit Whole Blood) - i just love this one ;)

Dungeon Keeper 2 - despite this being an early 3d game [never liked blocky models with lowred textures], gameplay/humor/mission wise, this game beats the original.

SimCity 2000 Special Edition - i may be wrong on this one, but despite it's flaws that were corrected in the later installments i consider this the best SC game. Also, one of my "lost discs" that was long due replacement (did i use that phrase right?)

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers - Sierra at it's best. And i love Sierra, even though it's considered a mortal sin around here. Though, it wasn't until i've King Diamond's 'Voodoo' that i felt the need to play this one. Surprisingly [or not], nobody stole GK CD from me.
Gothic 3: I actually have it on disc, but wanted the GOG version for ease of use. Looking forward to applying the community patch, when I get around to playing it.

That's it from GOG, although I did get NOX and Ultima 7 as payment for buying games on Steam for a couple people. Both of these were on my wishlist.

From Steam, I grabbed Fallout: New Vegas plus all the DLC when it was on sale. Total cost for that was $16.

*edit* Oh, yeah, I picked up Bastion and Drakensang Complete from Gamersgate as well.

Just Blood for me. I thought Duke 3D was great but Blood kicks it up several notches.
Speed Busters - enjoyed the demo back in the day
The Last Express - heard good things
Might & Magic 9 - heard bad things, but its the only one I was missing
Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 - heard good things
Bloodrayne - wanted to know what the fuss was about
Lands of Lore 1&2 - love #1, always wanted to try the sequel
Empire Earth: Gold Edition - cause it was free
Descent + Descent 2 - Like Doom in space, right? Never really gave it a proper try. Now's my chance.
Earthworm Jim 1 + 2 - Because the level design is supposed to be diverse and really good.
Fallout - I have never played this game and apparently I'm missing out. Actually, I have never played a role-playing game of any kind. According to people, this is considered a good introduction into the genre.
Gobliiins pack - Got Gobliiins 1 and 2 on disc. I was eager to try 3.
Crusader: No Remorse - Great game. Liked the music, the weapons and the action when I played it back then.
The Last Express - Pretty good game. Pretty unique too. And Jordan Mechner is behind it.
Little Big Adventure - I have the second installment in box. Twinsen's Odyssey was -- probably still is -- a beautiful, epic game.
Little Big Adventure 2 - As I said, a wonderful game. I like to keep copies of retail games that I own in one place online -- preferably here, so I bought it again.
Magic Carpet - Heard great things about it. Supposedly pretty unique. Looks inviting too.
Normality - A cartoon-like point-and-click adventure in the first person perspective. That fact and the smooth demo made me buy it back then.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six - Supposedly a groundbreaking tactical shooter back in the days. Eager to try it.
Strangers Wrath - had the Xbox version and loved it to death... couldn't pass this up!
Crusader (no remose, no regret) - couldn't pass up the chance to play 2 of the biggest no nonsense top down but kicking games ever
Alien Shooter 1,2 - top down sci-fi shooters are a guilty pleasure of mine :)
NoX - Best ARPG since diablo couldnt not NOT get this...
Ultima Underworld 1&2 - i love this style of game (would love a comprehensive list of all games like this)
Broken Sword 2 - Had 1 had to get the next one, Such a great game!
Gothic 3 - my 3rd copy and with the latest fan patch its amazing, (Two Worlds is still my fav)

Baldurs Gate 1
Baldurs Gate 2
The Witcher - Got the retail as a gift but wanted to buy it the support CDP (and get nice extras)
The Witcher 2 - Had to get it this sale (was going to buy more D&D games) with the Geo-ip back in affect. Thank God for the Australia Un-Edit Patch
I didn't get anything. By the time I reduce my backlog to double digits, there will have been enough permanent price reductions to make buying anything at a sale price unnecessary. Some of the stuff I have on my wishlists might even be freeware by that time.
I already have a big backlog, but, some games still looked interesting out there...

The Incredible Machine - looked cool
Serious Sam 1 & 2 - I like fpp shooters
ArmA CWA & Gold - looked interesting
Alien Shooter 2 - looked simple and fun in a walkthrough
Oddworld Strangers Wrath - looked fun in a walkthrough
Far Cry - looked interesting
Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 - looked interesting - my kids might like it too
SimCity 2000 - I have this on disk, but I wanted to share with my kids
Earth 2140, 2150, & 2160 - looked like an interesting series

That brought me up to a nice sized gift for Christmas! So, I probably won't be buying much this coming year. Of course, I still have a few games on my wish list for various reasons.. i might be tempted by a 50 or 60% sale later int he year...
I'd hoped to pick up a few more, but funds were lower than expected. In the end I got the following:

Darklands - I'd been trying to get a copy off eBay for a while with no luck (my location doesn't help).

Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete - Recently finished HoMM2 and was left wanting more. It was the obvious choice.

The Last Express - Owned it ages ago and lost it on a move, bought as replacement.

Ultima VII Complete - Although I already own The Complete Ultima VII release from the mid-90's, I wanted a back-up.

Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger - A long time want, had it wish-listed since it popped up on GOG.

Also received Heroes Chronicles: All Chapters from the community gifting thread.
Torchlight: Similar to Diablo but feels like a huge improvement. My Business Communications teacher recommended this to me. He's in his late sixties, was a marine, pretends to not know anything about computers but actually knows quite a bit. How could I not play this afterthat?

Deus Ex: HR: Heard good things about it and it was $10 at Amazon for a Steam key. I beat it during that very week. Now I need to finish the first game.

Puzzle Agent 1 and 2: I like Telltale and puzzles.

Poker Night at the Inventory: I like Texas Hold-em.

Company of Heroes: Looked interesting and I like a good rts now and again. Not quite sure if this is what it is but I'll enjoy it nonetheless.

Serious Sam Gold Edition: It was three dollars and I wanted to see what these games were like.

Magicka four pack: For me and my friends.

I've saved the best for last,

Bastion: It's Bastion. That is a good enough reason for anybody.
I got me a crap-ton of games from this sale. Let’s see…

Crusader: No Remorse: I’ve only heard of bits and pieces of this game a few years ago. At first I dismissed it, and then I saw some gameplay footage. It looked interesting, and since it was on sale, I thought, “eh, why not?” After just playing the first level, I am now hooked on it! Plus, the music’s amazing, especially the first mission’s track!

Crusader: No Regret: Same reason as No Remorse. Haven’t played it yet…

Wing Commander 1+2: Who doesn’t love space combat? Granted, it does look a bit dated, but the combat really is satisfying. Kinda stinks playing on a laptop keyboard, though. Not that comfortable. But mouse control thankfully works. And getting WC2 at the right cycles is a bit tedious.

Wing Commander 3: This was why I got 1+2 as well. Graphics and gameplay are a-freakin’-mazing for a DOS game. Plus, the cut scenes are fantastic too. They look really damn good! Also, Mark Hamil, Tom Wilson, Michael McDowell, and porn star Ginger Lynn.

…What? Her acting’s pretty good! Gimme a break!

Wing Commander: Privateer: Looked interesting after seeing it via GOG’s “GET HUGE” EA acquisition video. Haven’t delved much into it yet, but looks deep and promising.

Magic Carpet: Played this before when I was young, but didn’t even know what to do. Got it, and seems a bit hard to control at first. Will definitely delve into this later.

Ultima Underworld 1+2: Once again, saw these from the “GET HUGE” video. Looked pretty good, and even though I don’t play many RPGs (let alone First-Person ones), it kinda peaked my interest. Gave it a short play through, and the next thing I know, I’m speaking Ye Olde English threats to my enemies.
“Have at thee, scourge of the Abyss! Thine steel shall skin thee like thy hide-skin boots!”

Rayman 2: The Great Escape: Had this game on Dreamcast and N64, and kinda missed playing it. Though I’ll probably wait until I get a good enough gamepad to play this one, as keyboard control just seems too awkward for me.

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc: Never played this one before, but looks promising. Heard it has a few problems on PC, but once I see any fixes just in case, I’ll give it a go.

NOX: Never really played or heard of this one, before. But seeing that Westwood Studios, the guys behind the classic Tiberian Saga and Red Alert Saga Command and Conquers, this peaked my interest. Looks Diablo II/Torchlight-ish, and definitely up my ally.

Sacrifice: Never heard of this title before when I was young, but since joining GOG, this seemed a bit intriguing. I had it wish list for about a year, I think. So sale time, and BOOM! On my shelf! Haven’t played it yet, but looks pretty fun. Also, Tim Curry.

Guilty Gear X2 #Reload: Never played a Guilty Gear game before, but then again, I really don’t have any fighting games on my computer (aside from One Must Fall). Looked pretty good, too.

Ultima VII Complete: Never played any of the first 6 Ultimas, let alone this one. But since I’ve heard this was the Magnum Opus, why not start with the best of the best? And since this is technically two games with an expansion each, this game will take me quite a while to complete. Tons of hours in just a 30 MB package. How do they do it?

So, in total, that’s 13 games I’ve purchased from this sale! And some of them barely make a dent on my hard drive, too.

All in all, I’m pretty satisfied with my purchases. Now, where’s that new publisher?
