sibberke: I'm going to buy Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment. If I like Baldur's Gate (which I suppose I'll do) I might also buy 2.
Might consider buying BG2 anyway, there's a fan made total conversion that lets you use BG2 game engine to play BG1.
(Better graphics, better game mechanics, better game.)

If you're only going to play one, play BG2, it's better.

Leroux: Why not get the best of both worlds? Makes for more variety, too.

Like Psychonauts, Beyond Good and Evil, BG(1/)2. And/or Neverwinter Nights for the huge amount of great custom content (with regard to gamelength, the BG series and especially NWN are more than enough for several months).

Of course, it all comes down to your preferences. The games you list under Adventures are very different from each other. All have their strong points and are worth checking out. Fahrenheit has great atmosphere and could be an excellent adventure but I found the the Quick Time Events really annoying and immersion-breaking - and they're a fundamental part of the gameplay. (I didn't get very far yet.) UaKM is a cool P&C adventure but it suffers partly from the typical weaknesses of the genre (pixel-hunting, obscure puzzle design, not knowing what to do). Psychonauts can be frustrating at times, but IMO of the three it has the most varied gameplay and the most original ideas, therefor it was the most motivating for me to play. To a slighty lesser extent, the same goes for BGE.

oasis789: Hmm good points all around... I'm down to either NWN or Psychonauts... guess I'll see how I feel over the weekend
Check your PM's for a little decision aid. :)

Mind resending me that decision aid?

Heh, I don't feel like repeating the decision aid in detail now; maybe next time. ;)

Let's just say it comes down to getting both, because both are awesome games that provide lots of fun for anyone who can appreciate them. :)

Know this, your username is being etched on my wall.

The non threat part: Has anyone played Two Worlds?

Rayman 3: Had my eye on this for awhile, played the PS2 version years ago as a boy, paying full price for it. Loved every minute of it and comapred to the usual high budget fare on the pc, a breath of fresh air. I am disappointed that's its a UBI published game, after swearing off their games due to recent DRM, but it's on sale for next to nothing, and GoG gets a share of the money, that I can live with.

Tropico- Had a blast with the little time I had with 3, but since it can't run on my old laptop, the one I use more then my rig, so I'm using this as a substitute. I also need a break for 'traditional' management/RTS type games, so this fits the bill.

Gangland- I find this game to be a pretty unique blend of themes and styles. Tried it years ago and liked it straight off the bat.

Oddworld Strangers Wrath- Despite the buggy nature of the game, it still looks to be a fresh experience and a well written one. I always liked the Oddworld sense of humour and this game seems to be lacking in none of it.

Alone In the Dark: The New Nightmare- I recently played a series of Sam and Max, which I liked but felt the whole point and click felt a little too slow and not enough involving. This, however, has adventure style and (possibly) a better atmosphere. Plus a little more action.

No more games for me, the last year I played involving long, epic games and tbh, I am gettting tired of such experiences (Skyrim or no Skyrim, I just can't be arsed with another alternate life), so this year will be focused on shorter, quality experiences whilst having ample time to focus on real life. :)

I may have been waiting for the sale, so as well as downloading Empire Earth I got:

Alien Shooter
Alien Shooter 2
Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption
Icewind Dale
Desperdos 2: Cooper's Revenge
Alien Nations
Little Big Adventure 2
Divine Divinity
Blood
Blood the Chosen
Redneck Rampage
and Battle Chess.

I hope I'm done :\
Planescape:Torment - because it's my favorite game and I wanted to have a digital copy of it.
The Last Express - because a friend highly recommended it. Unfortunately, I didn't know it has no subtitles for english dialogues. Since I'm not a native english speaker, I have difficulties understanding every spoken line.

Betrayal at Krondor Pack
Blood 2: The Chosen
Bloodrayne
Disciples II Gold
Farenheit
Gothic 3
Little Big Adventure
Little Big Adventure 2
Magic Carpet
Master of Magic
Nox
Patrician 1+2
Psychonauts
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc
Robinson's Requiem Collection
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 Triple Thrill Pack
Settlers II Gold Editon, The
Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars
Starflight 1+2
Two Worlds
Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger
XIII

I got too many games so too lazy to list the reasons. But I had interest in them all for some reason or another. The ones I most wanted were Betrayal at Krondor, Rollercoaster Tycoon and Wing Commander.
Just pruchased Fahrenheit, Alpha Centauri, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and Broken Sword IV. Also got the Magicka collection from Steam. That's probably it for me during these sales, unless there are some balls-to-the-wall amazing deals on Steam come their christmas sales.
Postal 2: Because I am sadistic.
Temple of Elemental Evil: Troika.
Outcast: Because its weird.
I got the Little Big Adventures and Lands of Lore 1+2, because I loved those games back in the day.. which is really the main reason I buy things on GOG.
I've been contemplating Psychonauts, but I seem to remember the Steam version getting a big update which the GOG version did not get.
So far? I've bought nothing.

But I got Psychonauts (GOG version), and Broken Sword 2 & 3, in trades with people here.
I already had Psychonauts on Steam but wanted to know just why that certain level was "fixed"... I plan to purchase other games, maybe Wing Commander III since I don't own that.

Ok, I went overboard.

Bought 59 games, mostly RPG/adventure/turn-based strat, with a sprinkle of sims/action/RTS.

Couldn't resist any single one. A big huge Christmas gift to myself. Should last several years :)

But I have excuse(s) at least. Been out of the GOG scene for a good 10 months. Almost ignored the holiday sale email... until I thought of my new shiny netbook, and my daily train commute. And I studied hard last year. And GOG is just amazingly cool.

Thank-you GOG!

I nearly cried when I saw Nox.

(P.S. Bring back ObsCure!)
*sniffle*
Nothing. ;~;
I acted too slowly, but I plan on getting the first two of both the Rayman and Earthworm Jim series. I certainly won't be getting EWJ3D, but I might get Hoodlum Havoc if I desire to later.
