Brace yourself, Ned. The 2012 DRM-Free Holiday Sale is coming!

No, there's no release today. But there's a good reason: starting tomorrow, we'll be starting our winter season / festivus / celebration of your choice sale, and we know that you'll be thrilled about it.

What's the sale going to be? Well, we would hate to spoil the surprise early. But we'll be offering your favorite games for sale at prices that should warm even the grinchiest of hearts. While you're waiting, though, we've started some holiday celebrations--you know how we love to give you guys gifts--and you can enter into our week-long holiday-themed caption contests right here, if you're so inclined, or stay tuned for more holiday silliness in our forums as well as on [url=https://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, and Google+.

Tell your friends, hide your ducks, load the caravans, and get ready, because we're starting the gifting season early with a huge game giveaway tomorrow along with our sale, so you know you don't want to miss out. In the meantime, snuggle up in something warm, drink some eggnog, and we'll see you all tomorrow.
Hoping to see a lot of permanent pricedrops from 9.99 to 5.99 and some 60%+ sales :p
Sounds exciting, if I hadn't already spent lots of money this month on Soundtracks ($225 on the box set of Star Trek:TOS scores, 15 CDs of musical fun, and a few others).

Bloodygoodgames: Where's IKEA when you really need it???? Bangkok :)
Christmas in Bangkok would be great, especially since flights are pretty cheap, but I work over the holidays. :(

aoetje: Hmm, why is it that you won't release new games in December?
avatar
Bloodygoodgames: Hardly anyone would buy them as they're saving their money for the Christmas sale, so it's not fair to the developer/publisher, IMO, to release their game to what would be guaranteed low sales.
Normally I would agree, but...most often than not GOG exclude those recently released from the sales, like they have done before from previous sales.

Looking forward to the Christmas sales though, will be rolling with it.

xep624: Sounds even more exciting than the last year's one... I got quite a few games from 2011 XMas sale and of course didn't finish them all... I was very happy when almost whole catalog was 50% off... And this year there will be free games... Oh wow...
This!

I'd happy if GOG were to hold the same X'mas sale as last year! It's the best time to scoop up games by the bunches. I can't wait for it to begin. :D
I think it's time to update and post my wishlist .

adambiser: Was the site updated recently / today? The site no longer marks "GAME OWNED" in the catalog or in the game search dropdown. They are, however, still marked on the game page itself. Or at least it isn't for me... Win 7x64, Firefox 17.0.1 (also in IE 9).
I've been getting the same error too, along with others.

My body is ready.
And so is my wallet.

I think they want us to buy same games again by accident! and they will probably hide our shelves too! ;)
But what if the world suddenly comes to an end while the sale is still ongoing?
avatar
Roman5: Saved up for this, refrained from buying many games these past couple of months so I'm ready

Also, can a staff member confirm, will there be any new releases these upcoming weeks during sales? If not, when can we expect new releases in that case?
avatar
TheEnigmaticT: The business development team tells me I am a base liar, and we are releasing one *new* game and one *new-ish* game before the end of the year.

And possibly DRM-free pizza. But the last is unconfirmed.* ;)

*no, there's no DRM-free pizza.
Vampire Bloodlines?
Will there also be new releases or only pricedrops on holiday sale? I already own almost every game I like on GOG, so it would be nice for me to see some new releases too.

OK. I see. The question is already answered.
I hope to see the Metal Gear Solid series here on GOG.
Perhaps it would be System Shock 2 as christmas present...?

It is a significant danger. When the sun aligns with the center of the Milky Way, alien death rays of doom will strike us from the heavens, just as they did 25,000 years ago! The evidence is all there, just ask any geologist or archaeologist!

I love Christmas in Bangkok as I usually go to one of the big malls with a friend (it's HOT here and I love the air conditioning :) and we just grab lunch -- something non Christmassy and then enjoy a latte and a dessert in a nice cafe somewhere. I then usually treat myself to a couple of computer games and a few movie DVDs from my favorite Bangkok seller and buy a box of British mince pies to take home. Evening spent watching one of my new movies or playing a game = perfect Christmas :)

Sorry you have to work, some expats here do as well. Most foreign teachers here though seem to at least get a few hours off on Christmas Day so they can celebrate with friends. When I was teaching here my school got a week's holiday, which was nice.
