Brace yourself, Ned. The 2012 DRM-Free Holiday Sale is coming!

No, there's no release today. But there's a good reason: starting tomorrow, we'll be starting our winter season / festivus / celebration of your choice sale, and we know that you'll be thrilled about it.

What's the sale going to be? Well, we would hate to spoil the surprise early. But we'll be offering your favorite games for sale at prices that should warm even the grinchiest of hearts. While you're waiting, though, we've started some holiday celebrations--you know how we love to give you guys gifts--and you can enter into our week-long holiday-themed caption contests right here, if you're so inclined, or stay tuned for more holiday silliness in our forums as well as on [url=https://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, and Google+.

Tell your friends, hide your ducks, load the caravans, and get ready, because we're starting the gifting season early with a huge game giveaway tomorrow along with our sale, so you know you don't want to miss out. In the meantime, snuggle up in something warm, drink some eggnog, and we'll see you all tomorrow.
Now if only I could use my $5.99 game voucher for more expensive games that will be on sale below that price point! Oh well, in a perfect world...

Can't wait for the sale to start!

aoetje: Hmm, why is it that you won't release new games in December?
avatar
SLP2000: Who would buy it on a release day when you have Christmas sale tempting you to spend your money?
Well...everyone who is on berserker holiday mode? Like me for instance? I kept gathering money for the whole year just to be able to spend them on Winter Sales. After I spend it during Winter Sale, there is nothing left for January :P

and tbh if its a good game I will buy it anyways :P

TheEnigmaticT: We do actually have a few brand-new releases still coming, but just like usual, we won't be releasing any more classic games until January.

Hardly anyone would buy them as they're saving their money for the Christmas sale, so it's not fair to the developer/publisher, IMO, to release their game to what would be guaranteed low sales.

In the New Year, people are more apt to buy. Some even have Christmas money :) (I don't, as my Dad just informed me they'd paid my deposit for a holiday in Spain next year as my Christmas gift -- I'm certainly not complaining :)

JaqFrost: I move a lot. Last year I lived in China and the year before that in Spain; now I'm in Vietnam. Dragging my fake Christmas tree around the globe makes little sense, even if I was so tempted to get this pink glittery monstrosity they sold at this Chinese version of Walmart. It was so tacky it was awesome.
-----------------------------------------
I'm a vegetarian so I never eat turkey/ham. =P But, I will check out the stop-motion animation films as I've never seen them. Thank you for the suggestion!
Yeah moving alot must suck. :( I'm glad i've been lucky enough live in one place for so long.

And whoever thought up a PINK tree.....what were they thinking? 0.o
------------------------------
You never saw the Rudolph/Frosty/Baby New Year/etc films? Go and watch them, man! They are an absolute must if you're into sappy holiday films.

serpantino: Also people (myself included) are getting fed up of finding out something was posted on twitter or facebook instead of here (until people complain). This has been mentioned over and over again but you still do it, include a feed on the main page or something so that those of us who don't use that rubbish can stay up to date too.
But they DID post about the sale here, after they posted on the other sites.

I guess I can wait until January for you to release Powermonger

Roman5: Saved up for this, refrained from buying many games these past couple of months so I'm ready

Also, can a staff member confirm, will there be any new releases these upcoming weeks during sales? If not, when can we expect new releases in that case?
The business development team tells me I am a base liar, and we are releasing one *new* game and one *new-ish* game before the end of the year.

And possibly DRM-free pizza. But the last is unconfirmed.* ;)

*no, there's no DRM-free pizza.

The big question of the day, however, is: Will the sale be able to impress those of us who have already bought about 400 of the 493 games in your catalog from you?

The server gnome union has negotiated very good vacation days during December.

TheEnigmaticT:
Just a quick, completely unrelated note/question for you.

Was the site updated recently / today? The site no longer marks "GAME OWNED" in the catalog or in the game search dropdown. They are, however, still marked on the game page itself. Or at least it isn't for me... Win 7x64, Firefox 17.0.1 (also in IE 9).

Looking forward to seeing what's in store for everyone tomorrow!

Shouldn't it be GM-free pizza?
