Brace yourself, Ned. The 2012 DRM-Free Holiday Sale is coming!

No, there's no release today. But there's a good reason: starting tomorrow, we'll be starting our winter season / festivus / celebration of your choice sale, and we know that you'll be thrilled about it.

What's the sale going to be? Well, we would hate to spoil the surprise early. But we'll be offering your favorite games for sale at prices that should warm even the grinchiest of hearts. While you're waiting, though, we've started some holiday celebrations--you know how we love to give you guys gifts--and you can enter into our week-long holiday-themed caption contests right here, if you're so inclined, or stay tuned for more holiday silliness in our forums as well as on [url=https://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, and Google+.

Tell your friends, hide your ducks, load the caravans, and get ready, because we're starting the gifting season early with a huge game giveaway tomorrow along with our sale, so you know you don't want to miss out. In the meantime, snuggle up in something warm, drink some eggnog, and we'll see you all tomorrow.

Roman5: Saved up for this, refrained from buying many games these past couple of months so I'm ready

Also, can a staff member confirm, will there be any new releases these upcoming weeks during sales? If not, when can we expect new releases in that case?
We do actually have a few brand-new releases still coming, but just like usual, we won't be releasing any more classic games until January.

I take it the same games that weren't on sale last year won't be on sale this year either? (Just checking)

I honestly don't recall.

GameRager: Opted out in gifting or everything? Cuz I know I could never go a holiday season without my holiday films/cocoa/meals/etc. :D
I don't buy gifts, send cards, get a tree, cook a bird/ham, etc. In essence, nothing that has a very inflated price around Christmas time. I'm a big sucker for holiday movies -- love 'em funny or sappy or any 'heartwarming' way I can get them. =P

I tend to drink cocoa all year around, so I don't think of hot chocolate as a Xmas drink. I wish I could find some place in Hanoi that serves mulled wine, though. I have a craving for that and Swedish 'lussekatter.' Where's IKEA when you really need it, eh?

So the classic game to be given away is indeed part of the existing catalogue. Sherlock Holmes would be proud. Lol.

As I recall some games weren't on sale while nearly everything else was. I hope the ones who opted out of allowing GOG to put the games in the holiday sale last year will have a change of heart this year.

No tree(Fake ones are cheap and can be re-used, even.) or turkey/ham? Why? 0.o

So have you ever seen the stop-motion christmas/etc cartoons by Rankin bass/etc? I love those.

Cocoa may not be a Xmas drink, but it is more a winter thing than a summer one. (In the summer some of my favorite drinks are Iced Tea/Lemonade/etc.)

One was the original Gotihc. I remember this, because this was the most "expensive" game I bought during the last christmas sale. I really wanted to have it, so I said to me... come on - may it be discounted or not - it's christmas, isn't it?

Well I guess once I've looked at the sale I won't need to visit the site for the rest of the month then.
Also people (myself included) are getting fed up of finding out something was posted on twitter or facebook instead of here (until people complain). This has been mentioned over and over again but you still do it, include a feed on the main page or something so that those of us who don't use that rubbish can stay up to date too.
I hope this giveaway is of a game I like and don't have yet (or maybe a coupon)

I move a lot. Last year I lived in China and the year before that in Spain; now I'm in Vietnam. Dragging my fake Christmas tree around the globe makes little sense, even if I was so tempted to get this pink glittery monstrosity they sold at this Chinese version of Walmart. It was so tacky it was awesome.

I'm a vegetarian so I never eat turkey/ham. =P But, I will check out the stop-motion animation films as I've never seen them. Thank you for the suggestion!

Hmm, why is it that you won't release new games in December?

Who would buy it on a release day when you have Christmas sale tempting you to spend your money?
I'm really looking forward to this, this will be my first Christmas on GOG so don't know what to expect :)
