Brace yourself, Ned. The 2012 DRM-Free Holiday Sale is coming!

No, there's no release today. But there's a good reason: starting tomorrow, we'll be starting our winter season / festivus / celebration of your choice sale, and we know that you'll be thrilled about it.

What's the sale going to be? Well, we would hate to spoil the surprise early. But we'll be offering your favorite games for sale at prices that should warm even the grinchiest of hearts. While you're waiting, though, we've started some holiday celebrations--you know how we love to give you guys gifts--and you can enter into our week-long holiday-themed caption contests right here, if you're so inclined, or stay tuned for more holiday silliness in our forums as well as on [url=https://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, and Google+.

Tell your friends, hide your ducks, load the caravans, and get ready, because we're starting the gifting season early with a huge game giveaway tomorrow along with our sale, so you know you don't want to miss out. In the meantime, snuggle up in something warm, drink some eggnog, and we'll see you all tomorrow.

Silverhawk170485: I'm also not very patient, so I already bought Dominions 3 on Desura and now I'm about $30 poorer. So hurry GOG, because I'm already in a christmas shopping rush. :)
avatar
Pheace: Sheesh, doesn't Desura do any Xmas sales you could've waited for? :)
I said that I'm not very patient. ;)
But I also don't think that they sell this game cheaper on XMas sale, because it was released there today and its already cheaper. On the original homepage they want about $60.

But don't worry. I have enough money left to buy every game GOG will release today. :P

Fallout was last year (or the year before), so I doubt it will be this years big item... unless fallout 3... that would be atomic! ;)

The problem with being clever in your marketing is that an unintended adjective can cause all kinds of speculation when you are just making a standard announcement ;)

This is GOG we are talking about. Any kind of statement by them will cause all kinds of speculation.
Also, Spacechem deals with atoms as well...
I would prefer it to start with a shock. :-(
Will there be new releases or just discounts on released games?

Thx

I'm keeping my eyes open, but if it's a blanket 50% on a bulk of the games then I imagine I'll put off my wishlist for some gem promo's or weekend events which tend to have a little higher savings these days. Besides, most of the games on my wishlist are 9.99's I feel should be 5.99's (before promo's), or games to add to backlog that I'm not in a particular rush to get :)

TET said that there won't be any classic releases, but there will be a New release and a New-ish release during Christmas.
Also, we are currently at 493 games, and game 500 will be on January.

Nice! Maybe the opening for 60 minutes would be better.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFjt_fV8hPU But it's actually 40 years. I'm still mad a Roger Clemmins.
I'm wondering if some "500th game release" is involved in this...

Every time i check the site, it says "493 games", but I feel like they've released a few games and not had them count in that number. Am I imagining that or am I right?

500th game will be on January, and it will be "Something Special". Let me find TET's quote.
