Brace yourself, Ned. The 2012 DRM-Free Holiday Sale is coming!

No, there's no release today. But there's a good reason: starting tomorrow, we'll be starting our winter season / festivus / celebration of your choice sale, and we know that you'll be thrilled about it.

What's the sale going to be? Well, we would hate to spoil the surprise early. But we'll be offering your favorite games for sale at prices that should warm even the grinchiest of hearts. While you're waiting, though, we've started some holiday celebrations--you know how we love to give you guys gifts--and you can enter into our week-long holiday-themed caption contests right here, if you're so inclined, or stay tuned for more holiday silliness in our forums as well as on [url=https://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, and Google+.

Tell your friends, hide your ducks, load the caravans, and get ready, because we're starting the gifting season early with a huge game giveaway tomorrow along with our sale, so you know you don't want to miss out. Gazoinks: It'd be cool if they just let you pick one $6-$10 game of choice from the catalog to get for free. Probably wouldn't happen because they'd need to clear it with every publisher in the site, but it'd be cool. :D
There's one more issue with that. You could just make 600 accounts and download all the games in the catalog. :)

I think people could still exploit it using proxies. Not sure if there is a good solution that prevents cheating/stealing. Maybe there is.

hoping for sales on Baldur's Gate again - I'm waiting for them to fix the installers before buying it, but if they go on sale, I'm in. I can wait for a patch.

Bloodygoodgames: I love Christmas in Bangkok as I usually go to one of the big malls with a friend (it's HOT here and I love the air conditioning :) and we just grab lunch -- something non Christmassy and then enjoy a latte and a dessert in a nice cafe somewhere. I then usually treat myself to a couple of computer games and a few movie DVDs from my favorite Bangkok seller and buy a box of British mince pies to take home.

JaqFrost: I was going to BKK for a long weekend in November, but then I missed my flight and my employer turned out to be crazy (long story) so I had to find a new job and my trip never happened. :( Where do you get the mince pies, M&S?

Bloodygoodgames: Sorry you have to work, some expats here do as well. Most foreign teachers here though seem to at least get a few hours off on Christmas Day so they can celebrate with friends. When I was teaching here my school got a week's holiday, which was nice.

No, M&S is pretty bad here and ridiculously expensive :( Siam Paragon's (massive upscale mall) supermarket has them usually although sometimes they sell out pretty fast so I end up treating myself to Christmas pudding or just some imported chocolate :)

And yep, I hear you about the crazy employer. Had more than my fair share, although surprisingly in America and not here. Here I just get the Thais who promise one thing and give you another :)

Destro: Games which you already own will remain highlighted as such on both product pages as well as in the checkout, so there is no risk of accidentally buying something that you already own :)

The good thing is that GOG is starting a little earlier than Steam or other sites. If all the major sales started within a couple days of each other, it'd be overwhelming!
