zardokian: that feel when I bought dungeon keeper 2 for 6.00 this morning, and then I notice it just went on sale for 3.00

Roman5: Why did you buy anything when we were told yesterday that the Christmas sales are starting today at 3PM GMT?
Well i'm sort of new to the forums; that was actually the 1st post I ever made. I heard something about a free duke nukem game though so I decided to check out the forums. If I had checked out the forums earlier I probably would have known about the sale
Edit: I made a stupid question here and the answer was on the front page. Just move along.

I was waiting until the sale to complete some of my collections, and I'm a little confused. King's Quest 1-3, for example, is on sale for $4.99, and the title's page says I'll save $5.00. But I'm pretty sure KQ 1-3 wasn't $10 before the sale. I think it was more like $4.99. Or am I just misremembering? (It happens.)

All the KQ bundles were $9.99. GOG makes an announcement when prices are about to change.

mistermumbles: Same here. Too bad GOG doesn't have frequent buyer cards. ;) Ah well, the games here are cheap enough as is.

Wishbone: Yeah, just once I'd like to see something specifically targeted at their long-time loyal customers rather than new ones, but it's not like we can reasonably accuse GOG of being moneygrubbing bastards. Of course they're in it for the money, but as opposed to so many others, they are not in it only for the money.
True that. Though I must say I've been mostly focusing on sale-only purchases lately, with the occasional exception for games I really want, due to my ever-growing backlog. No sense in paying extra when I know I probably won't play a certain game right away. As it is, I've made it a point to now play some of my games I've owned from GOG for some time now like the fantastic yet challenging first Oddworld game. Good times. :)

Ok, good deal. I figured I was just remembering it wrong. Maybe we'll get a Sierra special during the holidays. I'll keep holding out for that. :)

Thanks for clearing it up.

Stick around :)

Forums are generally interesting and most people are incredibly nice. Welcome to GOG -- I think you'll love it here :)

DaCostaBR: How long does it last
I'll quote TurnipSlayer for this, since your question isn't fully answered in the front page.

avatar
TurnipSlayerr: Not everything will be on sale for the entire period.

Square Enix games will only be on sale for one week.
Bohemia Interactive games and Retro City Rampage only for 2 weeks.

We will have announcements 48 hours before the discounts on these titles stop to make sure everyone knows.
Thanks for the gift! :D about the promo, I already have LOTS of bullfrog games... but that doesn't mean my wallet will rest :(
I unloaded some moneys. Now some fun can be unloaded on me.

You have NO idea how pissed I would have been if right after joining GOG I would have had to see how other people get better deals just for having been around for longer. :P

Edit: Two questions:
Am I the only one who has the problem that he can't tell the games he already owns apart from those he doesn't because they've got all the opaque orange promo label now?
Other one: So there's no point to buy anything but the Bullfrog stuff today because odds are that every other game may get a better deal on another day, right?

Ugh. First, I was waiting for the holiday sale. Now I'm waiting for publisher specific specials *during* the holiday sale. I just know I'll buy all my missing Origin titles and they'll go on sale for 75% off the next day.

Curse you, gog!

Also, I love you.

As pissed as I am over seeing people who have contributed nothing to GOG being showered with gifts at regular intervals, while people who have supported GOG since the beginning get nothing?

Like I say, I'm not actually upset about it. It would just be nice to "feel the love" occasionally.

Nope, you're not alone. I just wrote a support ticket about it. I have 172 games from here, and I can't remember them all. The fact that I can't see in the catalog which games I already own is seriously hampering my ability to give GOG money right now.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but did GOG actually confirm that all the daily holiday promos will be 75% off?

But we do, Wishbone. Or at least I do, I know of at least 4 games I got as one-shot freebies just by being around long enough for the giveaways. I would not have any of the 4 otherwise, because they weren't high enough on my wishlist to have been purchased yet.

You just have a high enough GOG budget that you've managed to acquire so much of the catalog that they really have to hunt to find a game to give you that you don't own. ;D
