Hey kids! Do you know what time it is? (<i>No, please twell us uncle G-Doc!</i>) It's time to start the holiday sales on GOG.com! (<i>Yaaaay!!!</i>). Yes, that's right. This time we begin with a great bundle of [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/bullfrog_favourites]Bullfrog Favorites, that you can get with an amazing 75% discount! Let's take a quick look at the content of the first GOG.com holiday promo package, shall we?

You can learn how good it feels to be bad in Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2. You can cure such diseases as transparency and broken wind in Theme Hospital. You can glide the Arabian skies on your Magic Carpet. You can become a god-like being and lead your followers to glory in , [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/populous_2]Populous 2: Trials of the Olympian Gods, and Populous: The Beginning. Finally you will dominate the future as the head of your Syndicate. Normally, to do all that you'd have to pay nearly $50. But for the next 24 hours that whole bundle of games can be yours for only $11.92!

That's not all, of course. You just saved over $35. There must be something cool you can do with it, right? As you browse through our catalog, you will notice that almost all of the games we offer have been discounted by 50% for the holiday season. That's no mistake! We really took our sharpest scissors to those prices, so you can enjoy literally hundreds of excellent games for half the regular price.

Enjoy our offers, grab the Bullfrog Favorites bundle for only $11.92, and fill your home with holiday gaming cheer! Happy holidays!

Brosius: Is there some kind of bug in the system now with the sales?. It doesn't show my wishlisted games, nor the games I own, until I click on the individual games.
avatar
JMich: Filtering the games you own (and probably wishlisted) is a bit heavy on the servers, thus they've disabled it for the duration of the sales.
I understand, thank you :)

TurnipSlayerr: Retro City Rampage and Book of Unwritten Tales are 33% off though.

Edit: Actually you missed out on our special promos for The Witcher and The Witcher 2!

Witcher 1 is 75% off and Witcher 2 is 60% off.

JMich: I blame server gnomes!

And as for The Witchers, there is a thread about them, and they are at more than 50%, thus I didn't mention them. But you are correct.
Bloody server gnomes! I'll ask somebody to sort those out, cheers.
Well, I'm starting out with:

Startopia
Spycraft: The Great Game
The Journeyman Project 2
Broken Sword 2

Will definitely pick up some of the indie games as well, but am waiting to see what bundles, if any, come up.

Happy with those 4 to start out with though. A nice early Christmas present to myself. :)

Thanks GOG -- now I can go to bed!!
I love GOG =D

dirtyharry50: The answer is simple. Because it just works - ALL of the time with no compromises ever. That's why. I am by the way, speaking of "older" games which I define as 2006 and earlier when I say this for my Parallels XP install. For 2007 and newer, thanks to bootcamp I just reboot to Windows 7 where once again - it just works, ALL of the time, no compromises ever. Did that cost me something? Yes. Do I feel it is worth it for zero hassle gaming ALL of the time? Yes. I do.

I'm not knocking Wineskin but for various reasons it can never be as good of a solution ALL of the time as what I use.
I understand, but in some cases a wrapper will actually work better than a virtual machine and in the case of new games a wrapper can potentially work as well as the real thing. The Porting Team has wrappers made by other people where you just insert your game and that's it. You really only have hassle if you are trying to make your own wrapper. Wineskin is also the way how CD Projekt made their Mac version of The Witcher. Personally I prefer some hassle getting it to work once than having to reboot every time I want to play a game ;)
great! I hope in a Miasmata sale, I know it has been out for only two weeks but 15€ it's to much for me at the moment, I will buy it for less than 10€
*Runs off to the Secret Santa thread to edit wishlist to remove games he's buying for himself* Just in case. ;)

Already own the good ones.

Bloodygoodgames: So am I correct in assuming everything that's on sale today (except the Bullfrog game bundle) will stay on sale until early January at the same prices?
avatar
TurnipSlayerr: Not everything will be on sale for the entire period.

Square Enix games will only be on sale for one week.
Bohemia Interactive games and Retro City Rampage only for 2 weeks.

We will have announcements 48 hours before the discounts on these titles stop to make sure everyone knows.
That's good to know!
Thanks.
Why is there no option to sort by price, on GOG wishlist... would make buying games a lot easier
Hehe, Holiday Sale, day 1 status:

Free game: Already owned
Every single game in the promo: Already owned

I guess I'm just too good a customer. I have to cut back on buying games here.

Bloodygoodgames: Broken Sword 2
Speaking of Broken Sword, I think I'll finally break down and buy the whole pack - yes, I was stupid enough to forget about GOG's giveaway of the first title last year (at least I think it was last year). I may have played through the first three in the past, but it would be fun to go through them again, and try the fourth one as well. I've been passing up on them long enough.

Same here. Too bad GOG doesn't have frequent buyer cards. ;) Ah well, the games here are cheap enough as is.

Epic timing. Just today I got a tiny one-time job that should pay me enough for a couple of games from the promo. :D

Yeah, just once I'd like to see something specifically targeted at their long-time loyal customers rather than new ones, but it's not like we can reasonably accuse GOG of being moneygrubbing bastards. Of course they're in it for the money, but as opposed to so many others, they are not in it only for the money.
