Which games have you given up on, even though you were enjoying them simply because you ran out of talent?

This seems to happen to me most on flying and driving games - Need for Speed Underground, G-Police, Tachyon: The Fringe and TOCA Race Driver 2 are all games where I quite far but just could go no further

What about you?
Most city builders.

Who am I kidding, all city builders.
Hard Reset ( on insane) and Street Fighter.

The racing part in Mafia. My GOGness, I spent days/weeks on that one. I had to resort to a trainer to get past it. (been awhile since i tried the last time though.)
I never give up.
Even on games where I constantly lose, if it's fun I still play.

Sort of sad really... lol

Yeah, that was tough. I ditched my controller and broke out the full force feedback stick for that, couldn't do that now - its bust!
Super Meat Boy. I've completed the game but not 100% done everything, I'm missing a few of the later dark world levels but I got to a point where I just realized I wouldn't be able to do it, at least not with a keyboard. I can't think of any other game which has defeated me like that.

You should try Afterlife, it is the easiest of them all (not really, I think it is the hardest of them all). I mean city builders.

Back on topic: One fighting game: Killer Instinct. The only game I suck so bad that anyone can defeat me and even have a perfect round.

All sports games, well, mainly soccer sports games, I tend to be good on everything else.

I remember having to cheat at the last mission in Farcry, but then I read a walkthrough and came back and finished it properly. I really hated that game because I did the whole game without cheating until I reached that part, but then I was able to finish properly so I guess no harm done.
Every RTS game.

I love the shit out of RTS games. But I just plain suck at them.

This, for me. I just get stressed when things get hectic, and it makes me want to stop playing.

Super Meat Boy is another good example someone mentioned. I was good at platformers back in the day but super hard ones now just annoy me until I stop playing. I beat VVVVVV though.
There's too many games that happen to me. Anything action oriented without difficulty levels or made to be easy to begin with, same with strategy. I just find either my reflexes or mind get overwhelmed easily, it really sucks.
Am I obnoxious for thinking that if a game gets too hard with no possibility to go the easy way (or take an advice) .... this is plain bad design ?

(It's a rhetoric question, I don't think I'm obnoxious thinking that. But then I'm not 100% sure of all the possible translations of obnoxious so ...)

Not really applicable, but here's a related, possibly uplifting, story:

When I was first playing Rogue Squadron, I got stuck on the fourth mission, "Defection at Corellia". And I mean stuck! It was the first time that you need to deal with an AT-AT walker, and I wasn't really getting the leg-roping mechanism. So I tried, and tried, and tried... for FIVE MONTHS. I kept replaying that mission, and once the AT-AT appeared, I'd try shooting its legs, strafing its body, its head, distracting it, anything. And eventually it would destroy the building it was after, and the mission would be lost. Once I finally decided to try the roping thing again, and hit a good enough angle to realise that the weird camera it used was still manageable, I successfully tied it up and tripped it, almost on the first try. Then, having practised flying, aiming, and manoeuvring for so long, I breezed through most of the remaining missions.

Point being, if you really like a game, really like it, keep trying until you get through :-)
Any game that requires serious strategic thinking or insane reflexes.
Just about any fighting game (i.e. Street Fighter). I love the genre, can handle the first few rounds. But when it comes time for the serious smack to be laid down, I am the smackee.
