delboy2k10: Comet, Currys, Dixon etc are useless with specialised stuff - they get the popular stuff but wont stock Tekken Joysticks or GT Limeted Edition steering wheels. Its true you can get a sony controller and xbox controllers as emergency, and the other stuff on the web, but the nice thing is to see it before buying. Sometimes I wont splash out 100GBP on a tekken Joystick till I see the build quality myself, and Youtube can only do so much LOL
I've not known a game-centric retailer stock joysticks for a long time. But then that's probably in part due to the fact that I'm not living in a major city. I think that it's probably the case that online retailers are the only real solution there, given how much of a niche market it is.hercufles

thebum06: Thankfully there's fan made restoration mods available for that game. The game really shouldn't be played without them.
hercufles: does anyone know where i can find them recently i bought both very cheap and want to go play them. http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-sith-lords-restored-content-mod-tslrcm

I might give this another go once the Star Wars hype gets me (once again).

SimonG: How "complete" are they? I've always heard that they were a good try, but the game was to butchered to be restored. http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-sith-lords-restored-content-mod-tslrcm

delboy2k10: Of course the other negative effect this has is possible the sale itself
Although I havent heard any bad stories yet I would be a bit peed off if I bought a pre-owned game last wek for say 15GBP only to find it reduced to 1.98GBP in this sale.
Money they obviously need but that happening to me would leave a very sour taste in my mouth.
I had a quick look at the sale in my local Game yesterday, and it was disappointing to say the least. Sure, there was pre-owned stuff there for 1.98 - but it was all years-old stuff that was supposed to be pretty mediocre at the time, things like Clive Barker's Jericho. I did see a copy of Super Street Fighter 4 for the 360, and its reduced, pre-owned price was about 50p cheaper than Amazon are selling it brand new. It did not have me scrabbling for my wallet...

I see the website has stock updates if something takes your fancy - and buying a Wii at 39.99 (ok its pre-owned) is still quite a bargain
Like I said - shame your shop had little for you - I hope in future you get what you want :-) gamers need to be happy
Latest news is "all shops up for sale as of today" so thats a very loud death knell to me

With the statement that all uk stores arew up for sale this must be the end
I believe management have sort out a consultant agency to find a buyer in the next 2 weeks or go into administration
If that happens see the rush swoop in for all the stock at bargain prices. If it is 2 weeks that will be closer to pay day for most of us
Still a great shame, I feel for the staff and not the management - management were just gready devils.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/03/12/game-share-prices-collapse-to-all-time-low/
"UK retailer, GAME is in bad shape. MCV are reporting that shares in the troubled company dropped in value to just half a penny each earlier today. That’s a 98.8% decrease in value from their value ten years ago. MCV also mention that senior executives are bracing themselves for the possibility of entering administration within the fortnight if they fail to find enough cash to keep the company afloat."
well, looks like the nail is in the coffin soon.
While I did not use Game much, nor have they been supporting PC since I came to the UK, it is a shame to see it go. This leaves almost only HMV (which is struggling a bit themselves) and supermarkets to get retail games here, and ASDA is not exactly know for catering to any niche PC markets...
(I always have Steam....)

Yeah pretty much what I have been saying "UK retailer, GAME is in bad shape.

Im not a fan boy by far of the shop, but what I liked was the convienience. I like Limited Edition of things and have been ripped off in the past by a photo that makes it look good when actually its bad. I liked going into Gaame and seeing the Limited Editions of Skyrm Collectors of Gears of War Collectors etc and then if possible doing the hunt if I missed the pre-order
With no shop its back to looking at photos and deciding without seeing again
HMV rarely get the L.E. of things
Still, Digital is the future really - if they got saved it would be less then 12 months down the line before it happens again

The story continues
The consortium that purchased Comet may buy Game
Not sure how Game will look if that happens being as Comet is Electrical and a jack of all trades kinda shop rather than specialist
Still its here on Digitalspy

Just saw a post that states shares are just above 1p and somebody is buying a hell of a lot of them
Seems someone on the inside knows something (possibly consortium that bought comet)
Game shares used to be £5gbp each
If you bought £100gbp worth now and they did ever go back to £5gbp a share it would be £50,000 GBP
of course if they go bust you lose £100
Not a bad risk if you have it LOL
