delboy2k10: Just bought Knights of the Old Republic 2 Collectors with statue and DLC for 49 GBP, down from 135GBP - Bargain
Since when did LucasArts make DLC for KotOR2? And I'm not aware of any collector's edition of it. Also, for a game from 2004/5, 49 GBP does not exactly seem cheap.

Is it possible you meant Star Wars: The Old Republic?

And the bitter truth is that this game is actually in dire need of a "missing content DLC".

The bitter truth is that it's in dire need of "go back and finish the aborted second half of the development cycle".
Its boxed upstairs and may have got the title wrong - but its star wars - the most recent MMO and its reduced ftom 135gbp to 45gbp

Yeah, it's like the end of the game got sucked up by a hole in the force or something.

hercufles: problem with with shops is that they have limitid space to stock there games so some games you want to buy because it is limitid that it sells
avatar
delboy2k10: True for certain shops I guess, especially our towns Gamestation, but Game in our town is larger and well spaced - I saw the writing on the wall when PC games diminished to 1 display stand with PS3 taking up 1 whole side of a shop.

Then after that Pre-Owned took up the whole centre of the shop

Shame really
Problem is that you always see the obious games like cod, fifa ect but games that are less populair you have to go to that special shop.
Extremely glad they are dying. Always, always always had terrible customer service, prices, help and thick staff where I live, and wherever I went to in the country. I will never forgive them for what they did with game station, turning a large, friendly classic console packed game retailer into a tween 'badass' marketed copy of game. Flushing out the uniqueness of the store and GAMEifying it.

It is VERY unfortunate for the people who will lose jobs, but the industry will recover, we have grainger games expanding nicely and independents will swarm over the extra shop space.

I too my buisness to CEX. Whatever useless crap people say about the smell/layout of the shop, they have a tremendous amount of games/consoles/pc parts and mobiles. Fact is, they have served the specialist video game sector far better then game has done since 2006.

Sayonara game, hope I never see your foul logo again.

Sorry about your bad experiances - I havent had that big an upset that I wish anything to Die. But Passion is good I guess

Glad you feel remorse though for the employees - its hardly there fault for 80% that work there.

As for the argument. Sometimes big is good. How bad would it be if Shops like Marks and Spensors or Boots, or WH Smiths were small and only located in cities. All the small towns and villages having to travel 30 miles + to pick up something no more expensive that 5 or 10 pounds. or go online and wait a few days to arrive in the post.

Game can be bad and when it happens its Very Very Bad for the person it happens to, but for quite a lot they are an asset to a town. I would rather go to a specialist then a jack of all trade shop like HMV (p.s. I like HMV for my music and films only, I wouldnt buy a TV from them if they go in that direction, and its the same on games and assessories)

Again sorry for your bad experiance
from what I heard about HMV debt, they will also likely end like Game sometimes this year.

Yeah I hard that as well - something along the line of selling the digital division (where they sell the mp3 downloads) but I heard that quite a while back and havent heard much since

In regards to bargains as per the original thread - Niece just bought a Wii for 39.99GBP - tested it and works fine along with 5 games at .99p not bad

I can see that although my Game store got "3D dot games" in on day 1 when other stores were saying "3D what ????" LOL, I guess thats what Pre-order is for but its very true that high street stores play safe and just get popular in most of the time

True and that is too bad because then some games wont get any chance to grow
Of course the other negative effect this has is possible the sale itself

Although I havent heard any bad stories yet I would be a bit peed off if I bought a pre-owned game last wek for say 15GBP only to find it reduced to 1.98GBP in this sale.

Money they obviously need but that happening to me would leave a very sour taste in my mouth.
Thing is, you don't really need a dedicated games store for hardware. Shops like Currys and Comet and other electrical goods retailers can handle that well enough without them needing to be entirely reliant on it.

But even those stores don't seem to be as on the ball as they used to be.

Comet, Currys, Dixon etc are useless with specialised stuff - they get the popular stuff but wont stock Tekken Joysticks or GT Limeted Edition steering wheels. Its true you can get a sony controller and xbox controllers as emergency, and the other stuff on the web, but the nice thing is to see it before buying. Sometimes I wont splash out 100GBP on a tekken Joystick till I see the build quality myself, and Youtube can only do so much LOL
