mewliz: thanks everyone i hope they come out with more free games soon since i am broke
GOG is a great place for games as all of them are DRM-free and you pay the same price from anywhere in the world. The GOG community is one of the best and friendliest that I have had the pleasure to be a part of as compared to the others. I have also recently joined during the Insomnia promo and was amazed at the overwhelming generosity of the community members who were buying and gifting games to other members who went broke or were unavailable to purchase their wanted games for some reason or another. In this short time I have also been able to experience the generosity of a lot community members firsthand by getting various giveaways which I am really grateful for.

So the best way to get free games is to participate in this community, explore the forums to join discussions and enter the various wonderful giveaways. Welcome to GOG, be patient and you'll soon get what you want. :)

timppu: Well, GOG is indeed offering those free games in order to lure people here (to open accounts here), and now they succeeded with mewliz, so I don't really see the problem.

Of course if someone starts begging for free games from other users (giveaways), that's a different thing altogether. But no sign of that yet I guess, OP just asked where/which are the free games that maybe some friend of his mentioned to him being on GOG, or he read somewhere about them.
yep, got lured here by a heroes of annihilated empires discount and now im the proud owner of 161 games. so it kind of does work i guess.
I don't think I'll ever be able to understand this. How can one say he is broke and yet he can afford a gaming pc, valid Internet connection (usually it doesn't come for free either) and is able to pay for electricity.
Come on people, games here cost like 3 bucks during the sale, can't you really afford that? If not, then you should find yourself a different hobby...

I'm struggling to understand how, if he's looking for deals, he seems to have missed the enormous Christmas sale banners all over the front page... Ah well..

Not talking about OP necessarily, but could be:

- young person who has no income and living with his parents
- recently unemployed

etc. Or just cheapskate. Plus. GOG mainly sells older or indie games that run fine on older PCs that someone could possibly get for free from relatives etc. Anyway, irrelevant I guess.

I think your question is more relevant in cases someone wants to pirate The Witcher 3 or Crysis 4 because he is broke, which does raise the question how can he afford the PC to run them on.
Just remember, you have to buy everyone else five games when you join, at least that's what they told me when I signed up.

Speaking of which, you still haven't sent me mine. Where are they hiding at?

A little off topic here, but have to ask you... Regarding HoAE, did you finish it? I bought that some time ago, and really liked it a lot, until I got a decent way through the campaign, and it seemed like the difficultly all the sudden ramped up a lot. I found that the enemy suddenly started spamming me, and over whelming me, and I became frustrated as it seemed no matter what I built, how I defended, or attacked, I just couldn't make head way. I won't say I rage quit, but I definitely "frustrated quit", went on to a different game, and never came back to try and finish, lol. How'd you make out bro?

This whole statement is wrong for so many reasons. :O
"I am a girl so this is all new to me"!?
And that is when the Women's Suffrage Movement took an 80 year step BACKWARDS.
what i ment to say is that answer to the first question i am a girl. second answer this is all new to me is that i want to start playing pc games.

Don't get me wrong, I am very glad we have someone new coming here. Just try to understand one thing, as someone mentioned, coming to a digital store site and asking for free stuff might not be a best way to blend with the community :)
GOG (and some people here) are giving games for free , like it was mentioned in posts above.

You should probably take a look at this thread as well:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/are_there_are_good_free_online_games/page1

And one last thing, being a girl doesn't justify anything ;)
I am playing with a friend of mine, who's a girl as well, and she knows a hell lot about gaming :)

But ok, I can understand you don't have a credit card or anything. Send me a private message with a game you want here and I can give it to you as a gift, unless it is too expensive :D
you send a private message here

The skeletons drown me in bones all the time :D I haven'T found a decent way, to finish the campaign either. I bought it mainly because of skirmish and the dwarven OP-Steam-Cannon with its nuclear shells.
