Nah. When you add emoticons on a forum it tend to degrade the posts from passably thought out text messages into a bunch of jumping Pac Man heads with a word or two thrown into the mix.

Yeah they would. Until they realised they had taking over the forum like a infestation of termites. :P

Well, blame me for wanting some FUN here if you want, but I think they'd make a nice addition to our barren communist style forum bunkhaus. :P

Ha ha ha!
You of all people wanting some more fun here by adding features like emoticons is a amusing thought since you seem more than capable of getting it even with GOGs current "barren communist style forum bunkhaus". :P
Welcome to GOG, home to the finest gentlemen (and women) and trolls on the Internet. Enjoy your stay.

Not everyone, I'd leave the forum if they were ever introduced. Emoticons are the language of idiots and it'd only take a few days before a new game announcement thread would be nothing but solid blocks of that fucking annoying bouncy smily face

You don't like profiles or emoticons......god are you a snob. :P

Just because they might introduce them doesn't mean you have to opt in to using/viewing them ya know. :)

It just seems that many here seem to think anything short of a critical forum fix or improvement is evil itself.

Edit: I didn't mean we should have the bouncing animated smilies but the small pixelated ones.....and most forums can limit the number per post so it wouldn't be as bad as it seems.

So even if we disabled them, we'd still get lines full of :):):):):):):):):):):)?

And now before we get too far off topic... Hello Sam! Welcome to GOG.com, I hope you enjoy your time here and may I just say that your country's game prices are awesome, I import all my games from the UK!

Is it expensive living in London?

I have no problem with profiles, not something I could really imagine being too useful but they're inoffensive in and of themselves

Yes, yes I am

Oh yes and hi new chap/chapette

Yeah well it usually is. It's way to easy to clutter a forum with all sort of stuff that's pretty and fun but makes reading more than a line or two a pain and god forsake if you want to make sense of a post that is written like a letter.

Yes but if the stuff is opt-in I see no harm in it.

No? People will post threads that will have it as essential to understand and participate in. This will create a crippled or divided forum.
I can't believe you hadn't thought of that. Everyone worth their forum salt knows this. You ain't trolling on me are you? Or just grabbing at straws? :P
