I was downloading PoP Warrior Within 3GB all week on evenings with my quite slow internet, and now I was less than 200MB away from completing as this GOG Downloader update popup appeared, and when Downloader updated and restarted my Warrior Within is gone. I clicked on download again and it starts from 0%, what the hell!? you kidding me faaak

Unfortunately the merging process has been removed from the Windows Downloader and it is no longer storing partial data in chunks (which means faster process overall). Sorry for this inconvenience and problems it has caused! :(

does that mean I cant do partial downloads anymore?

Like can I be downloading say TW2, and turn the machine off for the night and pick up where i left off?

If not that rules out any game over 2GB for me (slow nt connection and i dont leave the machine on overnight)

To clear things up. The difference is that the Downloader is storing data in a single file now, not in separate chunks and you of course can resume the download any time. The advantage with this difference is, that you now longer need to merge anything, you already get a finished file when download completes.

I'm sad that the old 0.9 downloader seems permanently broken. Unlike the 3.x downloaders, that one always worked consistently for me and never ran into any problems.

And this fucking sucks.

You're making a strong step back a "feature" ? The biggest reason for using the downloader was that if you had slow wi-fi, interrupting connection, you didn't need to start download from scratch, only the damaged chunks.

Now, if you loose power or internet, you will probably need to download all 2 gigs from scratch, because storing the whole game in one file is A BAD IDEA.

And it seemed like you understood that. And now you changed your mind again, and we're back to middle ages.

Sorry for the strong language, but hey, I'm pissed.

No, you got things wrong. The Downloader is still downloading in chunks in the background (verifies its checksum) and then stores the valid data into single file. Therefore you're still protected against corrupted data.
