What ever happened to the Heros Quest Series??
Well, they renamed it Quest for Glory, for starters.

But I'd love to see it here. The rights situation doesn't seem too convoluted.

Four. Only the first one was ever called Hero's Quest, but they changed it because of the board game.

I loved that board game. It was babby's first D&D. We should just talk about that instead.

That was released for computer too so I suppose he could mean them... they were good games too literally the board game in computer form (which was nice for days when friends were on holiday)
Dungeonquest (also from GamesWorkshop) was a good follow up too

I seriously wish there were games like that made right now. I've seen footage of Hero's Quest and I must say it would be very fun if updated to modern standards.

Dungeon Quest and Warhammer Quest both have had revamps and both are classics... talisman is good too for quick 1-3 hour games...
Ummm..talking about video games. Although if I could find someone to play the board games with I would totally.

In video games bastion is pretty close as well Diablo and other horde of monster games use the same premise...

For quest for glory tonnes of PnC adventures exist.

Point and Click. The original QfG was a text based point and click game same as the early quest games (kings, space...)
I got a bit of Quest for glory vibe the first time I played through gothic 2.

I guess the classic charater archetype paths, the secret guild in the town and some of handcrafted locations you can explore in the wild triggered the vibe, although combat is very different.
I swear, I'm going to figure out a way to make a forum based Hero Quest (board game) topic sometime over the holidays. I think that would be brilliant.

To chime in on topic again, everyone should try to play Quest for Glory if they can, because it's easily the best of the Sierra Quests. Sorry Space Quest, I love you, but I wanna be a hero.
Has anyone played the parody game Quest for Glory 4 1/2: So You Thought you were a Hero?

I think it's freeware, would be a nice addition to GOG's freebies:

Here is where you can get some free remade adventure games, including Quest for Glory 2:
