i broke a keyboard: not sure how but buttons dont do what they supposed to do

pressing nu,bers results in sy,bols
also i cannot find a certain letter on ,y keyboard:::

No matter. I'm glad to be of service ;-)

shift+alt to go from qwerty to azerty by default (but you can customize that on xp I'm pretty sure). We french have to deal with that very often (almost every time we play a new fps).

Edit : I know you got your answer (I shouldn't have replied in fact ), but many people are at loss when they have this issue, it can't hurt to spread the word.
