Unless you are a huge fan, you might end up a bit burned out by all those Bioware "AD&D+Infinity engine" titles... drop one (the first Icewind Dale for example) and get Spellforce or Age of Wonder to enjoy some different gameplay

Baldur's Gate 2 is a game of your life. You must buy it. And play it. And then play it again. And dump your girlfriend to have more time for playing.

You may, however, consider dropping Lionheart off this list. It's a decent game, but there are better ones in gog catalogue.

You should buy Temple of elemental evil instead. It completes your collection way better than Lionheart

This was my first thought as well. Serious Sam should be on there as well. Sacrifice is awesome as is Gothic.

Thanks for all the replies! I am a big Bioware fan, Knights of the Old Republic is what got me into wRPG's, and I have loved pretty much every game Ive played by them (well, DA2 was a bit disappointing but still a good game). I also have Sacrifice, but never really go into it. And I don't really want any newer 3D RPGs in the vein of Gothic or Elder Scrolls, I have too much of those anyway.

I now think I will swap out Lionheart, for either Master of Orion or Temple of Elemental Evil.

Also, could you guys tell me more about Betrayal at Krondor? I have never heard of it before, but it looks intriguing. Specifically, what is the gameplay like?

There is a prepaid-card for gog? Well.. All broken swords and gabriels and first bloodrayne.. Then torment. I myself bought some days ago lands of lores (have not tried)

Also is it just dosbox that some sounds crackle and pop or.. well they are dos games how hard can it be. Ultima VII in the start crackles a bit.

rolf. just no. AC is great game by itself. The expansion pack is nothing more than just a bit more of the same. Core AC will still give you dozens of hours of fun as long as you enjoy civ games.

Lionheart sux. do not get it. it starts fairly cool but it quickly turns into a disaster.

It's a bit odd that you first laugh about what I'm saying and then basically repeat it. If you re-read my post, then you'll see that I didn't debate the quality of the basegame in any way (I actually used the same word as you to describe it). However, not being able to have the full experience does feel irksome to most players (as can be seen by the amount of requests in its fan forums about where the expansion can be bought).

If you can take the graphics, Darklands is a great game to play, and it would be something different when you get a little sick of D&D after a few hundred hours. ;P I'd look it up, and see if it's to your liking. It is one of my all time favorite RPG's and I have played all those on your list (and they all rule I should add) Happy playing! =)

The game is a mere $2.99 right now. I'd say the lack of expansion argument is quite weak at $2.99.

The OP specifically said that he had a fixed budget and that he would need to remove other games from his selection if he included SMAC. Given that specific situation, which the OP laid out clearly in his post, I recommended against SMAC because the GOG version does not include the expansion that most players prefer over the basegame. I stand by my recommendation and I still do not understand what's so laughable about it.

I agree that the lack of an expansion for a great game that's on sale for 3$ would otherwise be unlikely to become a decisive factor. However, the situation described is that of a fixed budget that's already exhausted without including SMAC, and a whole slew of extremely good games competing for limited slots in the selection. Under these circumstances, getting an incomplete package would be a factor in my decision, which is the reason why I mentioned it. Of course, the OP may or may not agree with that line of thinking - I just offered my perspective.

If he was going to drop a Dungeon Keeper I'd reccommend the 2nd one, since some people are still having problems running that game on their computers I believe. I don't know what the % is, but, enough to make the community's forum on it buzzing with a number of unhappy campers. Though, eventually GOG will probably get it running smoother for most everyone. the game is worth the the price asked. it was on release it is now. the expansion pack doesn't add anything essential like for example throne of baal.
