lightnica: It's slightly weaker than the integrated in my laptop. It won't run it or more likely won't run it well.

sloganvirst: Oh ok. I was quite good at UDK, but then as I said, my desktop broke, so now I am stuck with this laptop. That is why I wanted something about the same level as Halo or Deus Ex 2, as they run excellent maxed out graphics. Thanks all the same though.
Wait a sec... have you considered using IdTech 3? I believe it's open source, and it should run as long as you have OpenGL.

sloganvirst: Well, that is a good idea, but any suggestions where to find such people?
They exist. If you have some really good concept art try posting it on reddit.

These people are typically rather busy and hard to keep focused/coordinated though.

Got any kind of hardware budget? You're not going to be able to pull off much on that laptop, or at least that graphics card.

Well.... not until I earn some more money, now. Afterwards, I perhaps maybe 25-90 dollars? Maybe more, maybe less. Depends on how much I earn...

I tried the Unreal Engine 2 runtime, it ran excellent, but, I found it harder to use then either Unreal Engine 1 or 3. That is the sort of engine I am looking for, but easier to use. I mean, around that computer requirments...

Thanks though.

Ok, I will look into it, but does it leave you anything to get started with? That is what I liked about the UDK, it gave me something to start with.

Not sure, I'm afraid. I'm just naming off engines that I know of :P

Yeah, I found ioQuake3, is that what you were talking about? And also, is it possible to use it for a SP game too, or CoOp?

If you've found the right thing, I believe it should be possible to use for any sort of game.

A game engine is usually just the graphical component of a videogame (although sometimes things like physics simulation and sound are added in). Most will come with a development kit, although I'm not sure if Idtech3 does or not.

Dumb question: Have you looked into Source at all? It comes with its own development kit including facial animation software and modeling programs. And it was specifically designed to run on lower-end hardware.

EDIT: I should be really clear. I've never actually used any of these myself. Whatever knowledge I have comes strictly from my interest in game engines, not from actual experience.

Ok, I will try it out then. :-)

I kinda stayed away from Source because I thought it needed very powerful machine to run! I can play Portal on this laptop, but it is kinda laggy, so I thought it would not work very well... but I will try it out though...

EDIT: What I really want is something multi-platform, that supports Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, and Xbox 360, and you can test your pojects on Xbox 360 without having to sign up for one of those annoying licences or something...

Ok, I have found one called Assault Cube that seems to be the most promising one; but one question: Is there anyone here on GoG that has some experience with it or Cube engine? They both seem similar, so I may use on or the other... Thanks.

EDIT: OR Cube 2 Engine...

BUMP!

Is there anything like ioQuake 3, but for Unreal Engine? I don't care if it is UE3, UE2, or even UE1, just not UDK. OR is their a version of UDK that uses UE2?

There is a unreal sdk community project: http://www.moddb.com/mods/utcommunitysdk

Hm, that would be perfect, but you need Unreal Tournament, don't you?
yes, ut is required.

AdiJager: yes, ut is required.
Hm. So not any UT based game? Like Deus Ex?
This sdk can be modifed to work with ant UT game via modyfing source code, but this req high skill. I know that there is deus ex modfieded sdk based on this community project, but now i cant find link to it :)
I try later.
The base is ut classic that is even available here on gog ;-)

Ah.

But can it, if you have UT classic, be used to make standalone games?
