This game so awesome that when I put it in the first time, it wants to download 225 MB's of pure AWESOMENESS.
Now as a console game that is so awesome that I might actually have a seizure while waiting it to start.

Aliasalpha: AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH, at least 16 hours before its released here so I can buy it. Shut up you bastard!
I have to say I loved the demo, talking it over with a mate the other day, we both realised just how much stuff we each missed so my hopes for replayability are fairly high. I'm tempted to go though and see how fast I can get everyone killed

TheCheese33: I just beat it and I'm planning on going through the second time like that. Keep in mind that I was playing nonstop for 8 hours, so it's kind of short, but the crazy amount of variables that go into forming the game make it worth going through again. I kind of played a sort of good guy the first time, and I'm curious about what happens if I'm more of a dick the second time around.

The game's that short? Oh Jesus.

I hope it is that short. I tend to get bored of games that are longer, especially with so little time to play these days. Gone are the days when I could really enjoy a 40+ hour RPG.
Its the single most intense game I've ever played and the fairly large amount of options in the game makes me think there's a shitload more than 8 hours of gameplay in it. I actually had to take a break and do something else because I was exhausted from the tension.
To put it another way, this game is the reason I bought a PS3 so technically I paid $587 for it and I think its worth the money

Apply for a job as a Steam admin, then you could work on Valve Time™ and be able to game as much as you like

The length of the first play-through is amazingly deceptive. I just made a different choice in the game and went "Oh shit, this is taking it in a completely different direction!" The actors are superb, so the game makes you want to search out everything because you want to listen to their performance. The only actor I didn't like was the one that played the hotel receptionist, and he's in it for, what, two minutes?
Glad to hear the rest of you are enjoying as much as I did. This was one of the few games I beat in a single sitting. The writing's great, the actors are great too (apart from the obvious fake american accents but that's just nitpicking). It definitely had a great story... perhaps one one of the best in all video games. Now I just need to go back and give Fahrenheit a second chance since it's done by the same people.
I was out at the video rental store today so the children could pick some DVDs to watch, and saw a nose for box art. And damn it, I would up buying the darn thing. So now I have the cut Japanese version of Heavy Rain with one of the most pathetic covers in recent history =/.
And despite being cut, I'm still enjoying the game -- although so far, I've only had time to play the prologue and up to the first character change (yes, I'm intentionally avoiding posting plot points).
I figure I'll just wait 'till the US version is being sold at a cheaper price on Amazon.com and then buy the uncut version.
I'd suggest waiting till you find the european version cheaper, you've already got one copy with awful box art, why get the only version of the game with WORSE box art? Still with the downloadable box art, I suppose the game disc is the important thing.
They cut the nudity didn't they? Anything else you know about?

FUCK JIM STERLING UP THE ASS. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
He stated a personal opinion as the one undeniable truth, he's not worth reading after that.
His writing style suits destructoid perfectly, he's a wanker.

Problem is, I'd have to buy a new TV to be able to play a European copy. And I can't afford a HD TV given the price tags they put on them here.
Asides from the nudity (which I see no reason as to why the cut that, except for the fact that the guy who must OK this stuff at Sony is must have come right out of the Victorian Era), they apparently changed one of the characters due to yakuza references (missing digits, etc.), anything else, I don't know. None of the devs. have been open about the cuts; in fact they claim there were no cuts or censorship.
And to make things worse, I can't even play Heavy Rain right now thanks to whatever bug has disabled the network for old PS3s >_<

Not a multiformat TV? Damn that's gotta suck. Can you actually play american games on a TV that uses ntsc-j
Failing that, there's a bit of the game you can play on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjNsqPxO2Ws

Can't you just use a computer monitor?

Yes, both NTSC formats are the same basically.

No idea, never thought about it as I only have one monitor and that's used by the PC =)

You can get a splitter, so that your console and PC can share the same monitor; this is exactly what I've done with my PC and 360 - double-tap the Scroll Lock button on the keyboard and it switches between the two.
