Damn I can't wait for this bloody game! Looking awesome and the character detail is amazing
It started out as a technical exercise in uncanny valley. It still seems like that's somewhat the case. But there's hope for it yet if the story carries it.
Yea its going to have to have a great story the gameplay looks like a series of quick time events, not something I enjoy in a game personally.
I know pretty much everyone disagrees with me, but I really enjoy QTEs. They were my favorite part of Shenmue II, and I enjoyed them in Indigo Prophecy as well.
Heavy Rain is one of the few games that I would buy if I had a PS3.

No, I completely agree with you. QTEs (when done well) like they seem to be in Heavy Rain can have you interacting with something you normally wouldn't be able to do in a game without taking all control completely away. I've been excited for this game ever since I heard David Cage was making a new game that evolved the Indigo Prophecy formula, and it's been my most anticipated game for years.

It's the reason I BOUGHT a PS3. Well that and the powerful need for something new and shiny at that time

Blu-Ray is actually pretty amazing. I use it whenever I get the chance for Netflix rentals and such. Amazon even sells them for close to what a DVD costs.
I got a PS3 2 Christmases ago, and I've been chomping at the bit ever since I heard of HR. I think it's really going to take us back to the old adventures, and maybe even completely revive the adventure genre as those who play 90s games knew them. The only point at which I was hesitant to invest hope for this game was upon the game length. It turns out that HR will be about 8 hours long, which would normally be a rental, but there is so much that's supposedly in the game (a 2,000 page script!) that I plan to play the game 5-6 times to see as much as possible.
Heh... You know what I find amazing about Heavy Rain? It's the fact that every character looks so photo-realistic that the only way you can really tell they're not real is by:
A. The way light plays off their bodies, and
B. The fact that they all seem a little TOO smooth.
Now, how good the actual GAMING in the game is remains to be seen, but I will continue watching with interest. If nothing else, HR may turn out to be a very interesting interactive movie.
