As soon as old titles comes up as a subject but I try to do it when the situations calls for it. Unfortunately the idea that people have to create yet another account for something is usually the deal breaker and the typical reason that they don't have time to play games.

I don't care which store people buy from as long as they're getting the best deal. Whichever store that is, that's the one I will tell people about. GOG is among them. :)

i told a dutch computer magazine about GOG, they even written an article about it.

I already dragged four of my friends into GOG. None of them buy games here as regularly as I do but I at least three of them are actually tracking the releases and sales, two of them are definitely buying a game from time to time here. Funnily enough one of the friends is a girl who is only interested in rather new games so she's most interested in GOG's indie releases. She'd certainly buy stuff more often on GOG if there were more new releases from big publishers.

Also from time to time I share stuff about GOG on Facebook but I try not to annoy people. Preferably I share stuff about freebies like Duke 3D, Torchlight or most recently Fallout so it's a recommendation that friends can really appreciate. Sometimes I comment on the more interesting moves by GOG which occasionally results in a minor discussion.

You know what hurts? The only Polish gaming magazine left (yup, all the other ones died), the CD-Action, pays almost no attention to GOG. One would think that particularly the Polish press would be interested in promoting a local distributor but no, they actually often omit GOG when listing the distributors of a new game and will usually only state "Steam" or "e.g. Steam" even in case of games that were released on GOG at the same time or even earlier than on Steam.

The magazine even mentioned GOG several times later on, and also one of the top 3 newspapers.
But yeah also here alot of gaming magazines vanished. One of them really accused how much certain advertisers wanted to play a role in a magazine, that they wanted to make them create a good review and such, and that it is happening alot.

Yes it is. You know when people complain about "bought" reviews - thats an advertorial. Best example I can give you in the context.
Advertorials also come in the form of samples with magazines attached to a feature.
It's also the reason I'm no longer in the reviewing side of publishing!

Better a simple account than having to look at a middleman taunting you.

The closest I can think of is recently when I had a few of those free Fallout bundles, I made a Facebook post offering them to anyone interested. Nobody responded so I just dropped the codes off here to be redeemed.

Also, I remember like a year ago I think GOG held a contest to make a video about a game we loved and attach to the end of the video GOG's logo with something along the lines of "available to purchase here at GOG" or however we wanted to put it. It ran for several rounds, I did two videos and one won as a runner-up for one of the rounds. As a result I got a $9.99 code and also a $5.99 code for making the other video (everyone who posted a video but didn't win a round got a $5.99 code per video they made). That was a good time.
