I honestly couldn't care less.

I've never bought DLC before, and that hasn't affected my enjoyment of a game yet.

I'm aight with day 0 DLC, but only if it's free.

Personally I look at the value that the DLC will add to the game versus its price, and judge whether it's worth it. Usually it isn't, though I've seen a few quality DLCs out there. Sadly the days of true real expansions are behind us, with only deliberately retro games doing them for real (PE). Which is a shame, because normally full expansions not only added lots of content, but usually added extra features as well. Very few DLCs actually add true expansion-style features and engine upgrades anymore, which is a shame.

It does suck to be an international Japanese gamer, though. As far as the gaming universe is concerned, Japan might as well be on another planet from the rest of us. If you aren't content playing local titles, you're screwed at every corner. :\

In any case I don't care about "day 0" DLC as long as the game is complete. It keeps early-stage developers busy once the game has moved into testing, polishing and certification. Most people complaining don't understand the development process.

No. They could have set the DLC to release on the same day as the game here, or they could have released it later. They chose to release it before the game. That's just pathetic given they also marked it up 100%, and even more pathetic considering any who buys the game before release is getting it for free anyhow. There is no reasonable reason for them to have released it 17 days early. This just shows once again that they have little regard for the region.

I dont mind so much day 0 or day 1 dlc but my bane is disk locked dlc why this came about i dont know but it is annoying to buy something you already have . Its like having a new car but you have to pay £100 more for the extra wheel which is already in your boot.

Doesn't matter. I'll most probably just get the GOTY version anyway, long after they've stopped making more DLC for the game. I did buy Arkham City + DLCs bundle from a sale before the PC GOTY version came out though, but I think the DLCs are pretty much the same in both.

I mostly just don't care to do the investigation on each of the games "now, which of these countless DLCs are worth the asking price?". Too much hassle, just to buy a damn game. So I'll get them all in a GOTY version, thanks. Much cheaper that way too.

Yes, precisely. However, I think little tiny bits that only add a little content or cosmetic changes are just fine at certain price points. I personally am really excited for some of the cosmetic DLC for Crusader Kings II, for instance, but it's $2 and not at all necessary.

That's some serious stupidity right there. Well, they can continue to play their DLC games, and I'll just continue to respond as usual by waiting until the game plus all DLC is packaged together and sold at a heavily discounted rate.

With games like Witcher 1-2 or Minecraft, where the new content keeps coming without extra charge, I've had no reason whatsoever to wait for a "GOTY" version. With them, I feel the publishers are getting more of my money, than with countless micro-DLCs.

I don't regard DLCs and expansion packs that different, _except_ of course that I don't recall there being several tiny expansion packs for retail games. Usually one or two bigger ones, which made it more manageable.

But even back then, I preferred getting GOTY versions with all relevant expansion packs (unofficial, user-made map packs I didn't usually consider vital, I was mostly after official content).

Same goes for episodic/chapter games. I completely skipped buying Heroes Chronicles back in the day from retail, as the publisher seemed to keep churning out new chapters for the game. Hence, I didn't buy it until years later from GOG, as a complete "Heroes Chronicles: All Chapters" bundle.

Let that be a lesson to all publishers. Nickel and dime-ing is uncool, while Minecraft, SPAZ and Witcher 1-2 are supercool.

2. I would never complain about DLC from this company, I would always buy BL DLC without even asking what it is, because I think its probably the best bang per buck compared to any other companies DLC, goinng by the DLC from the last game..

The developers of the DLC were just more clever than the main program devs and finished their product super fast - that's what I would think.

Sure, but it is not exciting if they take a scissor and cut their game in many, many small pieces and then it's your job to put them together. The total price does not change a bit when I pay two or three times for it. After all the hobby is playing games not collecting DLCs. Some DLCs (different graphics packs) are so meaningless I don't care, but if they actually contain content then it becomes important. One can overdo it by cutting the content in too small pieces. That's why I favor larger pieces (formerly called expansions) or GOTY versions. I am lazy by nature.

But they don't "cut the game apart" 99% of the games already are complete without any DLC. And expansions also cost three times as much as a dlc back in the day (30$). Most DLCs nowadays have more content than 1/3 of an expansion.

There is good DLC and there is bad DLC. Just as with games. But the concept is solid, as it is a great way to make profits for a company.
