It was down when i was home earlier and down again now that I've come back. Just trying to figure out if it has been this whole time that it's been offline or if they just went down again recently....

I don't know since I haven't used it recently but many times for me the Steam client has refused to start with "Unable to connect to Steam network" error. Only thing that fixed it was reinstalling (remove everything but steam.exe and steamapps folder, and start Steam - that way you don't need to download everything again).

I tried it at 7:00 am this morning and it worked. But yes, it's down now. The amount of downtime with Steam at the moment is astounding.

At least Steam Offline Mode is actually working this time - a miracle in itself.

Thanks for the info....I mostly wanted to play a game right now so I'll risk offline mode. =)

same hare, down since 5 hours or more :/
I can play everything and left 4 dead 2 servers are up I just cant enter my profile or any page of steam

If seems to have had outages quite often lately... So has there been any news, have they been having lots of problems lately, or are they doing lots of maintenance as they are going to introduce something big? Is this because of SteamOS or SteamBox?

only the steam store, community and matchmaking was down , luckily the downloads don't stop , mine completed download of 3 games despite the offline .

they should implement distributed servers for other services instead of just download content
