As have been stated by multiple others, if the entire catalogue were to conform to the taste of a single person, then it'd be far smaller. Heck, if I were to remove everything I dislike from the list, it'd probably end up with about 20 titles left.
"There are games I don't like in the list" is no reason to remove those games or even claim that GOG is lowering its standards.

why all the hate on Call To Power 2? It got at least reasonable reviews when it was launched, and some very good ones. I know it had bugs and stuff, but it's actually quite tempting for me.. now it's compatible with the community patch.

The Phantasmagoria 2 description is kind of strange. "It had the misfortune of enduring very critical reviews, but we encourage you to give it a chance and judge it for what it is." It doesn't sound very confident in that game.

I agree. If GOG keeps getting new publishers and games then the chance of everybody getting something they want will be higher.
I hope we can get Another World (a.k.a. Out of this World) DRM-free someday.

Megarace One is crap. now. and back then too although it had that little gimmick of having fmv cutscenes and tracks which looked really beautiful at the time.

Yet for me it is good. really good. it was my first or one of the first games i ever bought for my pc (well my parents bought it for me)
There is nothing wrong with bigger selection, nothing wrong with having not so acclaimed games here. Even the crappy game is good for someone. maybe he/she wanted to get it but never got the chance (me: kingpin) or replay the game for nostalgic reasons (M1 or shogo for me)

Not always true... Final Fantasy....1-13+ however many side games not exactly a whole lot of continuity in the story line there with the exception of X and X2.... (and perhaps some of the DS/WII dunno never played those ones)
Sure there are some elements in each of them, but almost all games have some elements of another game Unreal shouldn't be called Wolfinstien 22 however :p

Many people hate FMV games. There are legitimate reasons for that (interactivity is fairly low in some of them, acting isn't up to movie [or even b-movie] standards, FMV use is gimmick-y a la Nintendo DS) but the game should be judged by its genre. FMV games are largely seen as an evolutionary dead end, but that doesn't mean there weren't some good ones. Also, some of us like FMV games - in my case the noir or horror ones.
I doubt I'm alone, check ebay, from a market perspective there's a demand for this game. It routinely fetches $60-70. This game was banned in many countries and several large retailers refused to carry it. It became difficult to find.

It doesn't have to be one story picking up where the previous one left off. Same gameworld, overlapping places, characters, events, references, something that connects the games, the 'goings ons' inside them.
It has nothing to do with gameplay elements, otherwise every FPS featuring a shotgun or every hack'n slash featuring a dungeon would be sequels to hundreds of others.

You're a bit wide of the mark. This is actually incredibly common in Japan to make movie sequels that are virtually disconnected. In America we do this too. It's called an anthology series. See: all of EC Comics, House of Mystery, The Twilight Zone.
Fwiw, there are brands that are expressly based on gameplay elements e.g. Dungeons and Dragons, World of Darkness, Dark Eye, etc ....

I guess that a game being part of the same series or brand, that on its own is not enough to make it a sequel in my eyes, but naturally my definition of sequel is not the one that counts, so, ok.
You're right about Japan, i don't know much about what goes on.
As for Anthology series, i know about them. If i'm not mistaken the Phantasmagoria games were initially meant to be one. Still, PH2 is not a sequel of PH. At best, technically it's a sequel, but not really.
The Twilight Zone: Obviously all episodes are part of the same series. Each episode on its own is not a sequel to any of the others. But like i said, above, this is just how i see it...

Certainly withe compatibility but quality cannot be judged by one person alone.
