Has anyone played Fear? The developer was Monolith and publisher was Vivendi. It came out in 2005 with expansions in 2006 and 2007. The director's cut edition is going for less than five bucks used on Amazon. Fear 2 has been out and Fear 3 is coming soon. I wonder if it could show up here cuz I always wanted to try it.
FEAR is one of my favorite games of all time. I consider the shooting itself to be near perfect. It sets up some really exciting firefights.

FEAR 2 wasn't quite as good, but I did enjoy it.

FEAR 3 is by a different studio entirely. While Monolith is apparently working on a download title that abuses the Batman license. WHYYYYYY

Vote at the link and hope for the best. Fear might come someday but not Fear 2 as it's too new.

Fear as in First Encounter Assault Recon? The game with the spooky little girl being all spooky?

I've played it.
Yes, with the spooky little girl. It's inspired by Japaese horror and was very well reviewed as a first-rate shooter with advanced AI when it came out. Unfortunately I missed it then.

Yes, thanks for the reminder about it.
As long as you play it as a horror themed corridor shooter and not a horror game FEAR is pretty damn fun, really. It's just that a lot of people expected a lot more from it. The same problem plagued Doom 3 too.
I found Doom 3 to be a little scary. And overlong.

FEAR might make you jump once or twice, but that'll be it.

I liked FEAR, and dont consider it a corridor shooter that much, or doom3 really. They were also both very good.
Fear is a popular punching bag for horror game fans, but I enjoyed it tremendously. It's not really outright frightening, but it's a fun creep show with great combat.

Fear 2 wasn't quite as good, but I still thought it was pretty solid. It did improve a lot on the first game in terms of level design and variety, and I enjoyed having AI teammates along with me for some sections of the game, but the story and combat elements were a bit weaker than the original. Alma also didn't seem as menacing or immediately dangerous as she was made out to be.
The "ghosts" things is part of FEAR and it's expansions scared the ever loving crap out of me though.
I have both Fear games and Fear files. They're ok. The first game is better in my opinion. I'll probably get Fear 3 but it's not on the top of the list.

I think the scares in the Fear games are more effective than they get credit for. They're not that inventive and they're mostly "BOO!" moments, but they're great fun.
The FEAR games are laughably scary.

FEAR 1 replica soldiers are ton of fun to shoot though. For dumb bots, they almost seem like they want to survive (if you don't look too closely). Forget Alma, the Pointman is the monster creeping around and killing everyone.
