macuahuitlgog: I didn't go to the premier. And maybe the people who like to interact with movies at movie theaters should not go to premiers. They should be banned from movie theaters. And it's not my fault if people don't know how to behave like civilized human beings. Clearly, you and cjrgreen live in a world where if it is fun, it is okay,(I'm sure a lot of douchebags in this world share your point of view) so I find continuing this discussion, pointless. So have fun, waving wands and screaming out spells at the next Harry Potter movie premier you go to so 50% of the audience wasted their hard earned cash because they wanted to watch a movie. Bye. :)
Are you calling me douchebag?
You are immature.

Mistakes you make:
assume i cosplay and wave wands. didn't you miss my other post where i said that i haven't seen HP since movie four and that i barely like it?
You are annoyed at nerd behavior which doesn't affect you
You want to ban a group of people. why ban them not you? why they approach how to see a movie is any more wrong than yours?
you belief that your idea what makes one civilized is the correct one.

i don't know you
so i shall judge you just by your posts of this thread.

you sir, are a prick.

macuahuitlgog: PS
I just have to get this out of my system. They should abide by the rules of civilized people because this way, everyone can watch the movie and have a good time VS half the people interacting with the movie having a good time and the other half, sitting there, pissed off because they can't watch the movie they just paid for...
that fifty percent who would be forbidden to wave wands on premier will not have a good time.

so you are choosing one group to which you belong over another one which you hate.

that's...

Shalgroth: So.. You were annoyed and disgusted by something you didn't even experience first hand?
avatar
macuahuitlgog: Do you need to experience something in order to know it is this or that? And I've had many experiences similar to the experience the OP described.
Then avoid them. Because you are the minority. You are the type that usually avoid opening nights because this is typical behaviour of people who enjoy a franchise, and enjoy having fun.

It's like going to a concert and complaining that people are dancing and singing.

It's an exception that doesn't happen often and it doesn't even warrant anywhere near "uncivilised". Though I must say, calling others douchebags because they share a light hearted view is very civilised of you. Bravo.

Ok, I just have to respond to this. I can't resist. So your saying the people who like to interact with the movie, will not have a good time if they can't wave wands while screaming out spells? That doesn't make sense. If they can't enjoy the movie alone without interacting with it, then they are not Harry Potter fans. And if they are not Harry Potter fans, why would they dress up like students from Hogwarts and scream out spells? Exactly. They are just people who like waving wands and screaming out spells. And they can have fun doing such things at home etc. They don't need to do this at a movie theater in order to have their fun. So if they are doing this during a movie that takes place at a public location, they are just being loud and obnoxious douchebags towards other people. And yes, compared to you, I am a "sir". :)

How are you so sure I am a minority? I am not a minority. Only in your little world, am I a minority.

And no, it's not like going to a concert and complaining that people are dancing and singing... A concert is a place where people are supposed to dance and sing... It's more like complaining that people are being loud and obnoxious in a library. But whatever, you are in the same category as lukaszthegreat and cjrgreen. Pointless to argue with you people even though it has been entertaining. :) Thank you all.:) I'm signing out now. :)

"And yes, compared to you, I am a 'sir'."

Then may I address you as Herr Sittenstreng?

You're condemning children who attend a movie they love, not bozos on the train who yak on cell phones about their sex life.

You might have some right to expect the audience to remain in their seats and be silent at the Staatsoper. But when you go to a movie that is full of kids who want to identify with the characters and the action in the movie, then if you have even a shred of fellow-feeling and are not bound up in yourself as tightly as the Gordian Knot, you will have the common decency to let them be themselves, Herr Sittenstreng.

Because that civilised brain of yours can't understand the difference between an event and a regular movie screening? Galileo proved something extraordinary. It's the heliocentric view of the universe. "Sir", you are clearly not a gaseous heavenly body which the planets orbit around.

macuahuitlgog: snip
they go to premier. with people who are fans too. especially if that premier was at midnight. yes. they are true HP fans even if they want to wave wands. they want to be with their friends, participate at the biggest thing of their fandom. not just watch a goddamn movie.

and don't go "exactly" on me. you use an assumption on what consist a HP fan as a base and proof of your argument. that's a logic fallacy but I aint smart enough to remember proper definition.

for gods' sake mate. It doesn't involve you. Let others have their fun without judging them on how they are having fun. It is widely expected that things like HP, LOTR, SW, ST, Twilight at premiers and few days afterwards brings out cosplays, fanfights etc.

and yeah. i agree with shalgroth that you are minority. most people are decent enough to let others have their fun...
I have to say, the babies in my theater 'interacting' with the movie was something I could have done without. Please, please get a babysitter, it's the responsible thing to do.
Couple things:

1) As noted by myself and others, it's easy enough to avid the annoying crowds and just wait a few days before seeing movie.

2) If you do happen to go on opening night and the shenanigans turn you off, get up, go to the box office, and get a refund. Come back at a different time.

The Harry Potter franchise, along with a few others mentioned in this thread are far bigger than just big-screen entertainment. They're phenomena. This type behavior is to be expected for something this big that's entered the collective conscience of entire generations. You may not like it. I don't particularly care for it, but it should be n shock that this is the way it is. Let these people have their fun and attend at some other time once the hype has died down and the shine has worn off for them. That's usually only a couple days because these are the people that just have to see it on opening night/weekend. After that, things are much better.

Adapt. You'll enjoy life a lot more.

Because it is easy to avoid these people, I should just leave them alone? It is only easy if I'm not interested in seeing the movie, the day it comes out. What you said is like, it is easy to avoid becoming the victim of a violent crime. Just don't leave the house, ever. Such a thing would be easy for me, if I'm such a person that likes staying home 24/7. But if I'm not such a person, I would have to make a sacrifice, yes?

I also doubt a refund is possible. If a movie theater offers such refunds, I doubt it will stay in business long. And such behavior, what you call "phenomena"(more like a lot of lazy parents in this world)is to be expected. But that doesn't mean I should accept it. Why should I let these people have their fun? No, I have zero tolerance for fun at the expense of others. And what you call "adapt", I call bending over.

LOL some of you guys think I'm the Grinch who stole Christmas/Ebenezer Scrooge or something. :P Maybe a ghost will visit me tonight and tell me I am a bad person for wanting to enjoy a movie the day it comes out at a movie theater. :P Yes, my heart is shriveled and stunted. Bah! Humbug! OR MAYBE....there are just a lot of lazy parents in this world who didn't raise their children to be decent human beings because it is easier to just let the children do what they want..

unfortunately with that i have to agree.
but you are one of them too.

Believing that everyone should act by your rules. because they are correct and everyone else are not.
comparing people who talk in theaters to violent criminals...

Premier of movies like HP is meant to be for people who cosplay, kid around and just rejoicing while watching their fav. movie of all time.
this is their right as is yours to watch it in peace.

but your right is not violated. you can watch the movie. go next week, or 2 weeks from now. don't on premiers when it is widely accepted by most civilized folks to be a fanfeast for fanboys and fangirls.

macuahuitlgog: Mundane pointless ranting
A few points need to be made.

I didn't attend the Harry Potter premiere, but mostly because I'm not into Harry Potter. Yet do you see me complaining about behaviour I didn't even experience? Not to mention insulting other people I don't even know on a personal level (aren't you supposed to be civilised?).

Another thing to point out is that you're currently carrying on much the same way that imaginary prancing, shouting and annoying patrons at a movie theatre would. Kind of hypocritical.

You have zero tolerance for fun at the expense of others? No one demanded you be there so they could ruin your night. Most of all, you're demanding they cease having fun for your own benefit? Again.. Somewhat hypocritical.

And LOL I do not think you're the Grinch, herp derp (don't assume what we think). I just think you're a moron, perched on his soap box telling the world what they should and shouldn't do, despite not being able to do exactly the same. ON TOP OF THAT. You go on to mention rude children.. And from your posts, you've been nothing but that.

WOW, you really are stupid. You just don't get it even though I made myself crystal clear. The day you reproduce is a sad day on this earth, indeed. LOL accusing me of being a hypocrite by saying me complaining on a forum is the same as preventing others from enjoying a movie... Dumb ass.... LOL accusing me of being a rude child when I'm simply insulting people who deserve to be insulted because their behavior is disgusting. Dumb ass... So how about you learn how to speak English, you fucking simpleton, take your smart pills or sign off?

What makes you think these rules are my rules? They are not my rules. I've met many people in my life that also believe in these rules. It is called not being a wild animal. And I don't have a problem with people who dress up, but kidding around during a movie is a deceiving way of saying being inconsiderate towards others.

Hahaha. Oh, wow. So much hot air and so little substance. The way to win an argument is to completely avoid any logical debate, call strangers names because they don't agree with your view point and thus aren't part of the Master Race (I mean, are inferior in comparison to your highly sophisticated and eloquent ways), and accuse everyone else of being a simpleton despite the fact that you haven't actually brought anything intelligent to the table.

Again, bravo. Bravo.
