If you've never tried the RPG Hard To Be A God, I highly recommend it! It's based upon the novels by the Strugatsky Brothers, has a great story and some great gameplay.

BUT, having said that...

Upon getting my current computer, I installed it and played some before getting other, more up to date and demanding games to try out.

Earlier in the week I decided to pick it up again (having reached a stalemate / rage quit on a few other games) and realised I'd uninstalled it for some reason. On attempting a reinstall, I was met with the message that it's alreay installed. I checked, ran ccleaner, ensured no traces of the installation were present on mys system and tried once more.

Same thing again.

Restarted, ccleaned etc etc etc

SAME THING AGAIN!

Checked online, couldn't find anything useful other than "It may be related to the Tages copy protection" but nothing of any real use.

I've uninstalled / reinstalled on my previous rig and that was fine, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what the hell to try - I've even checked the registry and found no traces of either Tages or the Game.

Can anyone help me get this great game running again - or at least make it certain it's dead in the water for me right now?!

Running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit if that helps - all other specs above required.

SOLUTION:

Open regedit.exe (I go through the task manager), goto "Edit" then "Find", type "Burut" and delete the registry entries it finds for you.

Maybe there's some information left on the windows registry about the game that didn't get deleted during uninstall.

Do you the error right after executing the install? or during the process?

Pretty much immediately - and uninstalling from the launcher does nothing also.
I installed the demo version and creates the following key in windows register

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BurutCT\HTBAG_Demo

Do you know how the register works?

Yeah - to a degree (I've had to go through it before with other games so ill take a look now).

didnt find it under that directory, but DID find a folder for BurutCT under current user (see jpeg attached). reckon I should delete it and try a reinstall then? ill have to do that tomorrow then - off out for bday drinks in a bit.

Also - thanks for responding Klaattu - hope you take the time to have a go at the demo.
Yes, I would delete the register key from the image and try again.
Could GOG pleast stop not selling it ?
Awesome, I'll delete it now and try with installing tomorrow. Cheers again!

I heard that the game is pretty much shit, not worthy of its title.

Well, I didnt think so - and some other people would agree, but you could always try the demo and see for yourself rather than being unhelpful.
