SW day was even a main part of the last episode of "The Big Bang Theory" :-)
As this is star wars day, let's all watch the holiday special and celebrate life day.

That's a different movie ;)
It would be great if GOG could get LucasArts so that we could all enjoy DRM free Star Wars games, like the Jedi Knight series. I was tempted to get them on Steam with the Star Wars sale they have at the moment, but there are still issues with them there, like no CD music (which GOG somehow get working via OGG files - see Kingpin for example).
I found a noCD patch for GBS but I just realized that means no music so I'm getting rid of it and running it off the disc.
Star Wars Day may be over for many, but don't forget that Dark Horse Digital is having a huge sale on Star Wars comics (their last Star Wars Day before the IP gets handed over to Marvel Comics).

Includes megabundles, individual volumes, and free Sampler bundles.

May the 4th be with you!

Elmofongo: Is it wrong that I think the Special Edition version of the Death Star Battle is better than the Original:

tinyE: I thought it was waaaaaaaaay better. In fact the only changes I really had a problem with were the notorious "who shot first" sequence and later on adding "Nooooo!!!" to the end if Jedi which they only did on Blue Ray so I don't have to suffer through that. As bad as the added Jabba bit looked in IV, I thought it actually added a lot to Han's subtle references about owing money and being a wanted man that he throws out during the first two movies. Up until Jedi was released no one really paid attention to those lines but now they are kind of cool especially with the hanger scene.
DO NOT WANT!!!

korell: I just finished playing Star Wars: Dark Forces again. :)
I'm tempted to pick it up on Steam, especially since I'd more or less get it for free from some left over store credit that I have from selling those silly trading cards. I've played all its sequels but never the original with exception of its demo. I remember having fun with it a long time ago, but is the full game worth it?

Happy Star Wars Day!
I have actually played through all the other dark forces / Jedi Knights games except Dark Forces 1 and Jedi Knight 1(?) expansion where you play with Mara Jade. I think..

Have to correct that at some point. Seeing DF1 for the first time was quite the experience.

For me, yes Dark Forces is worth it. It is an old school shooter, mind, so pixelly graphics and a control scheme that isn't modern. It is a shooter, though, there is no lightsaber combat as this game is set before Kyle Katarn becomes a Jedi.

Be prepared to make some changes to the controls to enable WASD. Also, the game does not support vertical mouse look, it only supports the mouse for turning (and moving if you leave that turned on). However, you can use GlovePIE to make the mouse vertical movement trigger the page up and page down keys which means you can get some vertical mouse look. There is a big Steam community article about it.

Lastly, if you get the game from Steam then know that you are highly likely to need to change the DOSBox conf file to get it running optimally for your machine.

Once you do have it running, though, I think the game itself is quite nice. It isn't the first time I've played through it, and once the DarkXL port is moved into beta I'll probably give it another play through using it.

The only one I haven't finished is Mysteries of the Sith (yes, you do play Mara Jade). I remember getting most of the way through it as I was in the Sith temple near the end of the game, but then there was a lightsaber battle that I just couldn't win. As I've since changed my computer the game hasn't been re-installed so I never got to finish it. All the others, though, I finished, Dark Forces and Jedi Outcast more than once.
