Cryxo: Well it's quite sunny with a sprinkle of rubbish snow.
good for you. It's still raining in here.

DarrkPhoenix: That would be true if there were a year 0 in the Gregorian calendar. Except there isn't. Or, to put the answer in the form of a question: what was the first year of the very first millennium (or decade)?

It should have been year 0, but at the time no one cared about counting the years by numbers, and it was later decided there was no year 0.
But it's an arbitrary thing, and as such, never will there be a 100% consensus about which one is correct and is a rather moot point anyway.

Where exactly are you? In the capitol (at least in my part), it's wet, but not raining at the moment.

Yes but I just woke up. While everyone was celebrating the turn of the new year yesterday, I was working as an usher at a party. The $80 was worth it though.

Well, the Gregorian calendar wasn't instituted until 1582, so yeah, no one was really thinking about it at the beginning of the first millennium. It's also indeed a completely arbitrary convention; I'm just pointing out how the counting works within that convention. People are free to hold whatever other conventions they want, they just need to recognize that they're going by their own convention, and not the one that the rest of the world officially goes by.
Alright, I'll stop now. This annual bit of chronofetishism always seems to put me in a contrary and pedantic mood.

May it be any way, let's hope we have a great year (and new decade, whenever it starts) filled with new GOG releases!

I'll drink to that. Cheers!
