tarangwydion: I didn't redeem it, abolat, as I don't have a Steam account, but I appreciate the kind gesture. Thanks! :-)
abolat: No, thank you :) just curious: are you against steam or never cared much about it to make an account?
A mix of both actually. Well, I don't like DRM (and this forum has seen enough debates on whether Steam is considered DRM or not, so there I do not need to add anything :-) ), and also I download all games on my Linux desktop. While Steam client seems to be working with Wine, I do not quite like the idea of needing a client to start/play games. Besides, I do not play games in this desktop, on my laptop, which 95% of the time does not have internet connection.
That's why I like GOG. The downloader is totally optional (and it does run great in Wine), no internet connection is necessary to start a game, no offline mode (it's always offline since internet is not required, at least for single player games), easy to backup, no dependency with whether GOG will still exist in the future (I of course hope so) or not.
