I probably put more hours into Morrowind than any other game. It's fantastic on many levels. It's just the combat that kinda sucks. Especially with the bloody cliff racers.
Morrowind is a great game. Plenty of places to go, NPCs to meet and monsters to chop in twain.

Only real gripe I have is with the leveling system. Might try Galsiahs Character Development mod in the next run through.

I've been watching a Morrowind Let's Play by gixG17 - no grinding here, the character is yet to reach level 10 in part 184 ☺

Elmofongo: I'm sort of lost in morrowind I do not know what to do my character already has a long sword skiil of 100 already thats what I've been doing already in Morrowind just grinding :(

Stevedog13: Have you joined any factions/guilds/great houses? How far have you prograssed the main quest? How much of the island have you actually explored? How many dungeons have you cleared out? The game is huge, talk to the people because there is no visible distinction between a basic NPC and a quest giver.
Main quest wise.............not at all

Sidequest wise.............not that much :(

i explored all of solthesim though

Come on the Cliff racers are not that hard and combat does not suck that much did you invest all your time with 1 weapon skill because I got 100 skill in long sword and I never miss

That was the very first (and for a long time the only) mod I ever used for Morrowind. It makes things a little harder in the early to mid game when your non modded character would have had about 25-30 of the 5X attribute multipliers but you are stuck with your highest attribute at 75-80. But later on you get to keep leveling past 100 and your character becomes much better at thier chosen skills than the most dedicated powerleveler could ever hope to be. The trade off is that you have to actually put in the effort. You may get your Long Blade skill up to 150 but to do so you need to leave all your other weapon skills at thier starting levels.

I put probably 200 on Morrowind on the Xbox, and then the GOTY came out and i put in another 200 hours, more or less. And then i got the GOTY version for PC and discovered the insanity that is the modding comunity, and lost another 200 hours in the process.

And about those Cliff Racers, according to Oblivion lore the dude that greets you in the ship, the very first guy you see, exterminated the Cliff Racers and was deified for his work.

Edit: Hands up everyone that thinks that Morrowind had the best "this game is going to be awesome" feeling right in the first 10 minutes of play.

You go from a fairly typical awakening setup, to going on deck and gawking at the water effects and "is that a giant bug over there?", to a very clever way of creating your character, to being dumped in the street.

And then it hits you like a cinderblock: "My god, i can go anywhere, do anything, be anything!"

What an amazing way to start a game.

Well then I suggest heading to Balmora and finding your Main Quest contact and then exploring the town a bit. There you can join a Great House, join up to 3 guilds, get a house and find religion. Its a pretty big town for the game so there is quite a bit to do. Once you've made a name for yourself you can either follow the main quest for a bit or go off seeking other towns and joining other factions. You may want to try building up some other weapon skills, because there are some very cool and very powerful weapons in the game and they are not all swords.

It's not a question of difficulty, but annoyance. They're annoying.

I know that there are other weapons but I don't need too all I need is 1 melee weapon (which is swords) and 1 one ranged weapon (which is bow and arrow) and I'm trying to play the game as a pure warrior not an every guy (which is all combat, magic, and stealth)

After the events in Morrowind, I take it? Yeah, I think that deserves some worship. :D

I actually feel bad for the cliff racers. They don't have feet, so from the moment they are born/hatched to the moment they die their entire life is flapping, flapping, flapping, flapping. I believe that the reason they seek me out is because they know that I can ease their suffering.
The biggest discovery for me about the cliff racers was to not use "dispose of corpse," EVER. If you dispose of a corpse, the next time you enter that cell (like if you go indoors and back out) all of the disposed creatures will respawn immediately, instead of waiting 3 days for the cell to reset. Because lots of the creatures are randomly generated, you can dispose of a pack of nix hounds and have them turn into cliff racers when you exit a dungeon, or vice versa. This also helps prevent you from getting attacked the instant you step outside, because a lot of spawn points are right next to doors.

I personally just made a fireball spell that did the exact same damage as the number of hitpoints of the highest-health cliff racer, and didn't worry about it ever again. Half the time they get stuck on trees instead of actually attacking you, so they're just easy pickings. And then there's that Ashlander guy who will tell you that there's no greater feeling in life than dropping a cliff racer with a single arrow.

That Ashlander ruined some poor adventurer's career when his stupid "+2 arrow of Cliff Racer pwning" went off target. Last i heard that adventurer moved to Skyrim. Poor bastard.
OK. Now I know why I barely play Morrowind anymore. The mouse pointer have a problem. It slides a lot and it's hard to have precise movement (It starts really slows and it gets tedious.

And yeah, I have the Morrowind Code Patch installed with Morrowind Graphic Extender and Morrowind Enhanced. Can anyone help me with that problem? I've been itching to play Morrowind again for a long time.
