I realized that I haven't been playing too many RPGs as of late. So I was wondering, anybody know any RPGs made in, say, the past five years or so that does not have the words Elder Scrolls, Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, or Mass Effect in the title? Fantasy is OK, but I'm not a terribly big fan of them. I'm also interested in games that have been overlooked by the masses, maybe indie RPGs or whatever.

Two that quickly come to mind are Drakensang and Eschalon: Book 1. Risen is another one recently released, but I've only played the demo so can't really comment on its overall quality either way. I'm also guessing you've already played VTM: Bloodlines, although I'll still toss it out on the off chance you haven't.
If you like NWN and the DnD games, Drakensang's pretty good (actually I pretty much love it). Playing that now. Radically different system though from DnD, yet not completely unrecognizable. Kind of refreshing. Has a kind of offline MMO vibe added into the mix, too.
Did you play that yet?
A lot of people swear by Mount & Blade, too but I haven't played it yet. Kind of tough to find non-fantasy RPGs except for the Fallout games.
I second the VtM. Also kind of assuming you played it already.

Nope, never played VTM. I have actually played the Gothic games (it was OK, nothing earth-shattering). Never played Drakensang, I'll have to take a look at that.
Also, if it matters, I tend to prefer games that use 3.5 rules because I find it less combat-ish and less hack and slashy compared to 4.0.

You're on this site and haven't played The Witcher yet? I also liked Titan Quest Gold (it really needs the expansion) and Sacred 2. I know they're all fantasy RPG's. But the only non-fantasy rpg I've played lately is Fallout 3. I liked it, but I know some feel that it spits in the face of the Fallout series.

I played Titan Quest, I enjoyed it, which is why I'm waiting for Torchlight. But it's only 20 hours long, and I want something longer.

VtM is honestly the best of the lot. Original, balanced, fun, well-written.
Drakensang is pretty good though if you like DnD games but want something a bit different that DnD would never do. I'm a big DnD CRPG fan, so I love it. It's beardy. Granted the storyline is cookie-cutter stuff, but it's well-executed and the characters are interesting.

Then play it. Now. If you want a good RPG that's not the standard fantasy fare, then VTM: Bloodlines is right near the top of the list.
And Deus Ex. Can't believe I forgot that one earlier.
here's an indie rpg that I've been dying to get into myself, but find myself beseiged by other games:

I can't agree more. No matter how much we all talk them up though, don't play a Malkavian as your first character. I think the contrasts between them and the other clans are more pronounced and effective when you already know the world

Heh, whenever someone says this I'm always reminded of Jack's line at the beginning if you're a Malkavian: "You're a Malkavian? Oh man, you are double fucked!"

I love this game.
Inquisitor looks promising. I'm looking forward to playing that game.

Definitely play Vampire: Bloodlines. Brilliant game despite some technical flaws.
Some to consider perhaps...
Baldur's Gate
Icewind Dale
Deux Ex
Fable
Arcanum
Fallout 1 & 2
Freedom Force
Sadly, for a self-proclaimed RPG fan, I actually have very little variety. =/
