If you wanted to see what an ok shooter looks like when it's Japanified, look no further than this 5 minute preview of one of Halo Legend's short films, The Babysitter. Call me crazy, but I don't think that a guy in giant green armor could be as swift as Master Chief is in this video. Then again, in the game he does kind of do a floaty jump...
What...did I just watch...
Another note. Why the hell does every single anime get a crappy US cast assigned to it? I remember watching Dead Space: Extraction and thinking to myself, "If they actually gave as much of a rat's ass as their promotions for it led on, it would have decent actors here, making the movie watchable at best." I don't care if they're not big-named, I just want them to deliver their lines like a person actually in that situation would and not ham it up. That "hotshot sniper" in particular was extremely stereotypical. I just love how they turned Peter Jackson and Neil Blomkapp down, who made those awesome shorts showing just how competent they were with the material, but they give the go-ahead for a very stereotypical anime project that seems to be all the rage these days, what with Riddick, The Matrix, and Batman getting their own anime shorts.
And when did Master Chief EVER use a knife?!
What! It cuts in the middle of the fight!
I thought it looked kind of cool, but I only played Halo 1, and I never even beat it.

I'm guessing you got to that Library level and went "f**k it"? I almost did the same thing, but my friend persuaded me to continue playing. It got good again after that.

That level really should have been cut. It takes the whole game down a notch IMHO.
Wow, that was crap. Why the hell would they want to do a low detail generic anime look when they could potentially do the entire thing more efficiently and make it look a fuckload better with upgraded versions of pre-existing models?
I mean fair enough toss the art style out the window if you can do something new and fresh but all it managed to do was leech away the visual style that made halo's visuals unique in the first place

I never found Halo's visuals that inspired in the first place. And what do you mean by using pre-existing models, like Blue vs Red or whatever that thing is called?
25 eps of awsomeness to spur on the desire for ODST sounds good to me.... alas im a PS3'r and i'll never let the demonBoX into my house...
but the anime looks tight, i really like the style, makes me think of Voltron with the babysitter Sniper guys haircut :)
Yes, honorbuddy, it's called machinima.
Anyway, that was total bullshit. No thanks.
Oh it was never inspired but it had that immediate recognition thing where you could tell at a glance it was halo. With this if I didn't know what I was watching, I wouldn't have known it was supposed to be halo until the spartan showed up.
I did mean with game models but not in the crude red vs blue way, I meant doing a full production with improved versions of those models and dynamic cameras (like a massively expanded version of a cutscene) and then adding postprocessing effects and the like.

That is true, it could have been anything else up to the point where the Spartan shows up. The way I see it though, if they do animation, it can be more stylized than using the game models. But I do agree with your complaint about it looking like just another scifi anime.
Master Chief! I choose you!

Yeah machinima. I meant the show though, I wasn't sure if it was called Red vs. Blue or Blue vs. Red.
For some reason I don't find machinima that cool though, I guess I just haven't seen the right one.
