michaelleung: Yes, honorbuddy, it's called machinima.
Anyway, that was total bullshit. No thanks.
avatar
honorbuddy: Yeah machinima. I meant the show though, I wasn't sure if it was called Red vs. Blue or Blue vs. Red.
For some reason I don't find machinima that cool though, I guess I just haven't seen the right one.

Check this out. They used COD 4 and made a pretty decent video.
Oh, and this.
The anime/manga style didn't work for X-Men, it didn't work for Batman, and it hasn't worked here either. Tying a western product with a Japanese cartoon is always doomed to fail (just look at the dreadful trilogy of Transformers sagas that came before the US-made Transformers Animated).

I haven't seen it, but Avatar is supposed to be very good.

I have to say, that first one was pretty cool.

Yeah, you can do some pretty sophisticated things with machinima and the people who made the engine and resources should be able to make something pretty spectacular, way better than a generic cartoon anyway (though generic cartoon for a generic shooter...)
Its a shame that red vs blue is arguably the most famous example of machinima, its like penny arcade compared to shakespeare

The film Avatar has nothing to do with the anime Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Copied straight from my comment on the youyube video: "What the fuck is this? The ODST's should have facial hair, scars, 1 inch hair. Just 'cos japs cant grow body hair like a man doesnt mean they should make the supposed toughest men in the universe damn children. I looked like more of a man (and sounded it) at 14. Plus the animation style is rubbish for this sort of program. I dont even LIKE Halo and im raging!"
Im telling the truth about about not liking Halo so much aswell. I find it to be a really childish shooter. The background story i like though.

I liked the second series better.

I'm pretty well aware of that, which is why the movie is called just The Last Airbender, I wouldn't expect anybody to have seen the movie Avatar yet. I was talking about the show and assumed it was clear since it was in reply to anime inspired cartoons.

i always thought Halo was about bald marine guys shooting at aliens w, and not some whiny adolescents making friends with some ninja in green armour.

Oh, I wasn't aware that there actually IS a film of the anime. That's even more confusing! :) Dragon Ball Evolution wasn't particularly well received, so I'm not sure if this will fare any better.

It is actually being directed by M. Night Shyamalan. And while they barely showed anything, the teaser trailer for it was pretty cool.

Yeah, but knowing just about every other Shyamalan-directed movie besides The Sixth Sense, I have a feeling it's going to be garbage. "What a twist!"
Also, I actually like Halo. Halo's one of the only series I'm really going to miss when I leave my 360 behind and bring my PS3 to college. I may rent this from Netflix, but more likely than not I'll be laughing my ass off at it.
