No tricks, just treats!

When you think horror game for PC what comes to mind? Sanitarium, Gabriel Knight, Blood, Phantasmagoria, Alan Wake? Those games are scary indeed, but this Halloween we've decided to take the horror further than any other distributor before. This Halloween we have prepared a selection of the spookiest of the scary, the goriest of the bloody, the creepiest of the bizarre--the horroriest and thrilleriest and halloweeniest games we could find in our catalog. This Halloween, only on GOG.com, [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/halloween_promo_31_10_12]Not Scary Games 50% off for the next 48 hours ('Not' is of course ironic).

Rayman is to platforming games what Alone in the Dark is to adventures. The horrifying story features an armless, legless, and neckless protagonist raging havoc in a psychedelic world straight out of a nightmare. He is typically found wearing gloves (no fingerprints), red neckerchief (to wipe the blood), and is often accompanied by a blue-skinned frog-like crazy mutant. We're afraid to admit that you can buy all three Rayman games for $2.99 each. Definitely not for kids!

Simon the Sorcerer follows a young ordinary teenager who turns into a mad sorcerer, travels through witch-portals, and fights goblins and evil wizards after finding "Ye Olde Spellbooke", a well known Witchcraft handbook. Everyone knows that Harry Potter promotes witchcraft and devil worship--well, this so-called "adventure game" did it before it was cool! Don't be fooled by the colorful graphics, crazy logical puzzles, countless references to popular culture, and seemingly harmless story "for kids"--the incredibly low price ($2.99 for each of the Simon the Sorcerer Games) indicates that dark forces are involved.

Let us describe briefly why you should be afraid of other games in this promo:
* In Little Big Adventure 2 (only $2.99!), the aim of the game is to kill FunFrock (kill FUN!).
* Worms United and Worms 2: use various weapons to kill small worms. Games for sadists!
* Creatures series is about breeding strange creatures by means of genetic manipulations.
* Superfrog for $2.99 features an evil curse, kidnapping, and gambling.

The offer for Not Scary Games 50% off (again, 'Not' is ironic) ends this Friday at 10:59 AM GMT.
Love the sale idea! I also loathe Halloween.
This is spooky. =O

Because of those dang pesky kids?
Damn kids. Get off my lawn!
Great Halloween collection, GOG. I'm still scared!

Picked up Gobliiins.

lowyhong: Because of those dang pesky kids?
No, because it glamorizes death.

And get off my lawn.
Nice idea, GOG! Hopefully, even with all those people complaining how horrible it is, enough players will buy from this to make it worthwhile.

morciu: they could have saved this "something different" for a weekend sale and not bust people's expectations, but that's just me.

RafCaj: Exactly. I've been anxious for halloween all month long and now I'm truly dispointed.

I know they probably put the true horror games at a discount last year but I'm new here and I really wisehd to buy Sanitarium, Alone in the Dark and others....
That would be their "No Turkey but some Gravy Sale" for Thanksgiving.
Seeing the Gobliiins pack in here and noting the art looked just like Woodruff and the Schnibble reminded me that GOG really should get Woodruff, if at all possible. They were both made by Coktel Vision and Woodruff was published by Sierra, so it's maybe only a matter of time (since we have games by the same developer and publisher already on GOG)? Here's hoping...

Oh, and here's the place to vote for Woodruff:

I may be interested in finally getting one of those Creature games. Which one would you recommend? Village looks a little too simple to me, so it probably would be either Albian Years or Exodus. From the look of it the former looks much more appealing. Does Exodus have anything to offer over Albian Years as it is a later product in the franchise?
I wasn't so impressed by the idea of a sale of "not" scary games, but you had me with the "horrifying story" featuring "an armless, legless, and neckless protagonist raging havoc in a psychedelic world straight out of a nightmare". :)
I loved the "not scary" idea and how they've linked all of these games to Halloween anyway. It's a refreshing sale in the midst of a bunch of other typical Halloween sales.

I also have most all of the horror games on GOG already, so it's cool that I can now pick up Mutant Mudds and Worms because I didn't have those yet.

If you need something scary, just buy Realms of the Haunting. It's the best horror game on the site and it's only $5.99.

I like this not-so-good promo (again, not is purely ironic) :)
To be fair, Rayman 1 has a terrifying difficulty curve.

While I would have loved Waxworks to go on sale, this is a good promo if only for Little Big Adventure and Rayman 2.

Will keep waiting for a Waxworks promo.
