Meh. For some odd reason I liked Halflife 1 (with its expansion packs) more than HL2, maybe the "linear storytelling FPS" was quite a new thing back then. Maybe I was jaded already when HL2 finally arrived.
But at least I played both HL and HL2 through, so they couldn't be all bad (and I think I played all HL1 games through twice in fact, so they were even better than average). Probably the same would happen with HL3 as with HL2.
Not sure though, I haven't had enough willpower to buy and play any HL2 episodes, maybe I was expecting some complete pack with all possible episodes and stuff, but apparently no more episodes are coming, if I get some people correctly?
Portal was quite ok, polished and different enough from the mainstream and the single fast playthrough was enjoyable enough, but unfortunately I noticed that a second playthrough wasn't interesting at all even to relive the funny remarks by the antagonist, so I stopped right there. Since it was a puzzle game, maybe the lack of replay value was to be expected. As if I was interested enough to try (re)play the challenge maps, about as interesting as trying to replay HL2 levels without dying even once (ironman mode) or using only pistol as a weapon...
