It's not ridiculous, it's reasonable. It would be idiotic if they hadn't released the Witcher games on Steam because of being too proud or something. I bet they got most of the sales on Steam. Not to mention that The Witcher 1 is older than GOG.

They probably got more sales from it. But i don't understand why they would put stuff on a rivals site. It's almost like helping them out.

Sony used to make games on the nintendo gameboy. That would not happen in this day and age.

Sony were going to collaborate with Nintendo to make a console, but Nintendo were adamant to stay with cartridges. Obviously Sony wanted to push their cd's at the time, so they went ahead and did their own thing. It worked quite well for both companies.

Oh yeah, I know the story. It was going to be a Mega CD addon rather than a standalone console and Nintendo publicly dumped Sony, which is what made them such bitter rivals. :P

Secret of Mana (one of my favourite games) was originally going to be a Nintendo Playstation game and had to be cut down massively to fit on a cartridge.

Secret Of Mana is an awesome game. Despite being cut down (never knew about it potentially going to the PS1) it turned out great. A game that looked like it had been made for the Snes (Breath of fire 3) was also absolutely fantastic.

Nono, it wasn't going to be a PS1 game, it was going to be a SNES game for the SNES CD addon (which I was calling the Nintendo Playstation for fun). It definitely came out great though.

While CDPRed and GOG are part of the same company, the are actually separate and the decision of where to sell a game is not necessarily theirs. In the case of The Witcher, Atari was the publisher that decided where it would go, while The Witcher 2 was self-published by CDPRed. For a relatively small publisher like CDPRed, getting a game like that into as many stores as possible is simply good business.
