Hi I'm trying to make up my mind whether to buy a copy of GUN via eBay. It looks really good, but I'd like to see what GOGers think of it first before taking the plunge. The general consensus seems to be that it's a solid title, but its score is in the 70s range on Mobygames and Gamerankings. Also, is it an FPS or TPS? Screenshots on Mobygames show that it's both.

(auction ends in 4 hours 30 mins btw)

XD At first I thought this was one of those "Oh booooyyyyy" Escapist gun threads. "Are guns evil or good?"

Maybe this will help:

I'd say it's worth $10, but not much more. I haven't played it in like 5 years though.
Well, it's a very smal game, despite having an 'open world', the map was so small i've felt claustrophobic. It's also quite short, i was surprised when i saw the end credits roll. I'm a 80s born, 90s raised guy, so perhaps i expect too much from modern games. I guess it's fun while it lasts, though as i've mentioned it doesn't last long, and if You don't mind seeing the same bunch of enemies in the same spot everytime You ride through a territory, You might just like this miniature Cowboys and Indians GTA.
I'ld say skip it, unless it's uber cheap or your really into Western games.
I enjoyed it. It's nothing special, but it had some entertaining set pieces.
I loved it. It's a small open world western third person shooter. The story is a very cliche "lets cram everything we think is in western movies and make it over the top." kinda thing. I had allot of fun playing through it, so much fun that I beat it twice! Thats not saying much though, because it runs at about 8 hours in length. Plus it's usually pretty cheap. So I say you can't go wrong with GUN.
Thanks, so it's really just a Western GTA? Are there any memorable moments? So it's more the sort for a quickie / to release some steam (pardon the sexual innuendos) like Asscreed i.e. nice set pieces, soulless?

You can say it is even more soulless than Asscreed. :D

It was a great game, for its time. But for today's standards, meh! :)

I played the game when it first came out, so my memory of it is hazy, but I don't think I paid much attention to the side missions. I just went through the main story. Like I said, I mostly remember the game for its fun and varied set pieces. It was like playing a cheesy action movie.

That's how I remember it, anyway. I don't know how well it would hold up today. You probably can't go wrong for five bucks, but I wouldn't pay a lot for it.
The seller's selling it at $12. I hated Asscreed 1, I'll skip GUN. Thanks for the advice folks.
Assassin's Creed?

Er... okay then.

Too bad...it is an awesome game with more interaction and less blah than AC1.

As in people to talk to and such, and less trodding all over to do stuff. It feels awesome to go from place to place and not dull like AC seems to be. The areas between missions seem more fun to be in and play through.
