Wow, a Slavic (I think), a Latin and a Germanic language.
That's 3 different language areas.
You must have a natural feeling for languages.
I myself speak Dutch and English and can make myself understood in German,
I also understand the Frysian language, but don't speak it.
As South African is a mixture of English and Dutch it's understandable as well.
On a side note:

Heh, I seem to understand rather easily how a language works... from there, it's only a matter of dedicating time to learning the exact mechanics and vocabulary.
