I've read it a few times, but mostly chalked it up to ignorance and assumption that it had to be bad because the previous game was bad. I had the aame experience as you in running the game tjough.

The basic "truth" you hear, especially from console gamers mouth is that if its port to pc - it automatically sucks.

Then the usual "it didnt work on someones nvidia 9000^2 platinum card, so it must suck on everyone".

....i think pc ports these days are whole lot of better than years ago. Sure there are problems as always have been, but on average the situation is getting better. One other thing helping that the xbox controller is gaining ground on PC, which i think is actually very good thing.

Saints Row 3 was a pretty decent port. Saints Row 2 was (and still is) completely broken on the PC.

GTA IV was also an atrocious port. So, that's a no for me. I'll stick to either the Xbone or PS4 version.
And the basic "truth" you hear from PC fanboys is that every port on the PC is amazing and is superior to the consoles version, like you said in that other thread.

It always ran fine even on my lower end PC at the time. Just have to turn some settings down. It is a resource hog but if you know what you're doing you can avoid that problem.

Too bad they never released Red Dead Redemption for PC. I would’ve immediately picked that up even though that would’ve required Steam.

GTA V I already own on PS3. I don’t care if it get’s released for any other platform.

I didn't like GTA 1 and 2 much due to the overhead view (= you don't see what is ahead when driving at high speed, so constant bumping to other cars).

I liked GTA 3, GTA: VC and GTA: SA overall though, just played them through last year or so. I've yet to play GTA IV or some GTA spin-offs I may have.

Any talk of what DRM it'll have yet? Here's hoping there's an option without Steam*.

* I know that the chances of this are about zero, but let's hope eh?

GTA 3 is the first with the current 3rd person view? Suppose i should that first then maybe. Not that i mind the top down too much. The visibility is problem though.
as we havent got any GTA games here, i would guess they have some sort of DRM. Didnt rockstar games have their own "rockstar club" or some other service you need to login to play the game? I think my brother was complaining about something like that with max payne 3.

I already played it on PS3. It was interesting, but not interesting enough to bother with it again, at least not so soon.

Yeah, I've heard about Max Payne 3. Apparently, the Rockstar DRM service didn't work out of the box on a lot of people's computers (their internet routers apparently blocked the ports that the DRM communicated with).

I hate that type of system; I never play online, so always try to keep my gaming system not connected to the internet.

I am connected to internet all the time - but it bothers me when they add in systems that dont work properly and thus slow down my SP experience, which doesnt really need the connection except for DRM.

My brother is working at Red Lynx and the Trials Fusion (pretty good one actually) is using Uplay despite no one likes it at the office apparently. Its pretty much forced on them as RL is owned by Ubisoft.

Most likely double DRM like all previous R* titles. Steam + R* Social club. GTA4 had even GFWL DRM so that's 3 for you :) Think I'll pass this one since Max Payne 3 R* log in was and still is a pain in the ass to play online.

As for GTAIV on PC, I think it had two problems - GWFL/Securom-related issues, and rather questionnable performance, which haven't been fixed at all, so the only solution is to get more powerful rig. But after all, who are master race? :)
Thankfully GTAIV had no controls issues like Onimusha, Devil May Cry, and Resident Evil 4 had.
Should GTAV again be ported badly, I doubt I'll touch anything from Rockstar again.
