Ehh... I'd like to see Take 2, if only because we'd get a re-release of the AO-rated version of Manhunt 2.

babark: Wing Commander was free at some point? When? By who? Where? :D
To be totally exact, though, gog isn't selling Wing Commander, it is selling a Wing Commander 1+2 pack. :P
Pack or not, Wing Commander 1 was given for free on WCNews. Perhaps it was abandonware, but here what it is still said on that page:
"... There Was Wing Commander I
For our final update of the night we are proud to present, in honor of its incredible 20th anniversary, the game that started it all--the original Wing Commander, available for download!

Wing Commander (121.6M)

If you're new to the original Wing Commander, be sure to check out our online copies of the Claw Marks magazine and blueprints posters... and if you're looking for an additional challenge you can pick up the Secret Missions

Please note that this is adapted from the Kilrathi Saga version; although DOSBox and related developments would make the original easier to run on modern computers, we are only permitted to post the specific release included on a 2000 PC Gamer coverdisk. I was able to play the game easily on a Windows XP machine while Kris had trouble with the speed limiter in Vista. I am confident that the Tech Support will rise to the occasion and help keep this version of the game running--so give it a try and post your problems so we can work it out.

Finally, to other webmasters and magazine editors: this is not a freeware release of the game--anyone wishing to include this download at their website or in their publication must contact the rights holders themselves. "

Take-Two is all about that DRM, unfortunately.

That said, should they ever come around and stop insisted that R* Social Club be added on top of all the other bullshit they had on GTA IV, I'd like to see them here, for sure.

Didn't read the thread, eh?

Totally didn't. I enjoy blindposting! It's like posting....AFTER DARK!

Gandos: Unfortunately, according to GOG, Take-Two Interactive currently insists on having DRM in their games.

tfishell: Actually the X-COM classics are DRM-free on GamersGate, so I think the main reason the games aren't here is because of regional pricing.
GOG has regional pricing, but I guess they don't want to put too many games like that in their store.

D-ROCK: ...I would love to hear your thoughts. ...
Maybe. Unlikely though as of now but not completely impossible. I would love it but for now I have not much confidence.

Ohhhh....so it was a promotional thing by PC Gamer.
Comparable to how gog might give Torchlight for free for the day, or Wadget Eye might give the original Shivah free on its anniversary.
Now instead, imagine if Revolution stopped having Beneath a Steel Sky available on their site, and all the other places like GOG took it down. They didn't sell it anywhere, just didn't provide it.
Then they started selling a "BaSS 1 & 2 Pack".
That would be a comparable situation.
When I got them on GamersGate I had problems with GTA SA and the DRM they used then so I was e-mailing one of their guys to get it fixed. After a while I downloaded a no-cd crack and the game worked fine. When I e-mailed them and told them that the DRM was breaking the game and that it would be nice if they could release a DRM free version even just on GG the responce was an absolute no as it would not protect their game.

I would love to see them here, I would buy all of the GTAs from 1- 5 at full price without question, but I still think Take Two are still too backwards to be here. Hell they wont even let you play forward your PS3 version of GTA5 like some other publishers have with their games.
In my eyes they are just money hungry, blinkered, accountants.

Well, GOG doesn't give Torchlight for free anymore, but you can still get Wing Commander from the WCNews site, so it seems to be something more than merely promotional.
Another example is Star Control 2, which is freely available as The Ur-Quan Masters, but is still sold as part of the Star Control 1+2 package on GOG.
I didn't ever get the idea of DRM. Even the best DRM can be broken easily by pirates. If one decides to pirate a game nothing can stop him. In the end DRM has very minor effect on sales. It only harms players who actually buy.
Slightly off-topic, I have a CD version of GTA: San Andreas, does it have any DRM? I would check the box but I have no idea where it is. If it does then I'll just stick to playing my Ps2 version.

On topic: While unlikely to ever appear here, I would love to see the first few GTA games on GOG.

Offline CD-Check from what I recall, may be mistaken.

Edit: Original DVD from 2005 had Securom 7 on it.

Thanks for the info! As long as it doesn't install any DRM I can deal with keeping the CD handy for whenever I want to play.

Edit: I'll check to see which version I have, if it's the version that has DRM then I have a $20 drink coaster I guess.
