Interesting that the first eXceed should be missing, probably by virtue of the fact that it is a real clusterfuck and fundamentally broken.

Also: It's possible that the eXceed games will appear DRM-free, even if they haven't in past Indie Gala bundles. The games are available DRM-free on Desura, so maybe there will at least be a Desura key for them.

mrcrispy83: It's weird for Higurashi to be in a bundle before it's even up on steam. And I kind of doubt that Mangagamer would go drm free on it particularly when they probably have more than ten times the people pirate their stuff than buy it.

And it kind of makes me wonder if it's just the question arcs... and not just this but I wonder how they're going to release it on steam too. For instance I thought they orignally sold the answer arcs individually. it would be awful if they had to go through greenlight again for each individual answer arc. How much they would charge for it too.
Yeah it's odd that Groupees managed to score When They Cry right after they got greenlit. Maybe the bundle was planned before the greenlight announcement. Either way, Groupees got incredibly lucky scoring that game. IMO that game alone makes this better than the first doujin bundle.

Could always end up as a bonus, they may have intentionally left it out to include it as a bonus.

Higurashi is already DRM free on MG website. They removed DRM from some of their games after the overhaul in April - Higurashi was one of those games.

I think this will be just the question arcs as it would be counterproductive to include the whole friggin' 100 hour game in a bundle. And answer arcs are not sold individually anymore. The separate downloads were scrapped even before the overhaul, thus I don't think that will impact the Greenlighting process.
Bundle is live. I don't see any mention if When They Cry will come with Steam keys when it's released on Steam.

yeah i haven't really been keeping up with mangagamer recently.
Why did I just spend .75$ on a pigeon love simulator? Worse yet, why don't I regret it?
Ok.. got an answer back from ShiftySlug.. there's no guarantee if we'll get Steam keys for When They Cry.

"they are redoing the steam version a bit, so will take some time before it is up there. after that we shall see"

EDIT: Pretty sure the first Exceed game will be a bonus, ShiftySlug kind of hinted that it would be.

I've never heard of any of these games but given that I'm totally ignorant of anything coming out of Japan that doesn't mean much. So would anyone be so kind and tell me what's worth getting here and why? I'm already sold on the eXceed games because I'm simple and there seem to be anime girls with wings and bunny ears. I also want to get Hatoful Boyfriend because I've read St. PigeoNation’s Institute is "the most splendid and greatest academy of the pigeon, by the pigeon and for the pigeon." Don't know what that means, but it sounds sweet.
What about the rest though? The Higurashi thing in particular. The video says "gameplay" but after watching almost 8 minutes of it I still have no idea what that game is. If I read the post by spoderman correct there is someone named "ShiftySlug" involved, so that sounds promising.
Not often but i purchased all of the featured games. Wow!!
I totally forgot about Hatoful Boyfriend. So bought.

lol ShiftySlug is a groupees admin. When They Cry is a visual novel that inspired a very popular/great anime. I've heard the VN is just as good as the anime. If you have any interest in visual novels, I'd grab it.

I see. Well, I don't know if I have any interest in visual novels having never read one, but if "When They Cry" is good that seems like a great place to start. Cheers!

That only leaves CamelCase and the two CAPS LOCK games. Do they have either great mechanics or anime girls with bunny ears and wings? Otherwise I think I'm all set for now.

It seems that "upgraded versions" is the latest popular approach to fend off requests for Steam keys from bundle buyers. For the time being, I don't think this is going to be much of a problem except from a few persistent, spoilt and entitled brats, but as soon as a Greenlight bundle game does it, the shit really is going to hit the fan.

It's apparently now deemed bad form to actually not distribute Steam keys if a game is greenlit post-bundle. I can sort of understand the logic, but I don't understand why people are so insistent on having Steam keys (unless you're an achievements junkie).
I can only hope the next Doujin bundle will include this.
Hell yes, all titles available DRM-free! That's loverly. Now to subject myself to Hatoful Boyfriend.
